We were a bit unsure on whether to have dinner here or not, as the reviews were good but it just didn’t look appealing. However, we had a lovely experience ! The food was deliciously prepared and the service was great! The prices were also...very good. Recommend! Oh, and making a reservation is a must 😊More

Had a fantastic friday exploring Bulgarian traditioanl food at Izbata Tavern. Our first time in Bulgaria and our waiters english was excellent. The house white wine was excellent. The sausage and Porcini statrer was OK, but not big on flavour, but the goats cheese starter...was excellent. The main Kampana was also excellent. We paid with credit card with NO arguments, the waiter did say, the bill does not include services, but it is totally optional. very transparent and no intimdation...More

We had a very pleasant time at Izbata Tavern while recovering from a lovely city walk. The staff was most friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and authentic. We found the pricing more than adequate. Should we visit Sofia again we will most certainly...return for more tastyness.More

We wanted to try Bulgarian food and came here for dinner. We tried the lamb, veal and mushrooms and the stuffed cabbage. All were excellent. Service was also excellent. While credit cards are accepted, tips are in cash so remember to bring some level or...euros.More

The restaurant is located in the basement of the building, small and efficient. Service is good and fast. We had the chicken Kapama, veal with forest mushrooms and as appetizers the rustic appetizer - roasted peppers, white cheese, mayo and walnuts and a shoska salad....The veal was nothing to speak about and missed the mushroom taste. Was warm when delivered. The chicken Kapama came with a bowl that was very hot, but cold in the center - a small bad detail. I had to send it back (something that I don't recall ever doing). It came back - tongue burning hot. The food lacked that those 'fragrant spices' that they proudly mention on their menu. The best part was the cold beer. Our experience was just not great at all. Look elsewhere.More

Our hotel in Sofia recommended this restaurant and it was amazing. The food was delicious and the portions was more than enough. The staff was wonderful and attentive. If you are looking for an authentic Bulgarian meal do give them a visit. They managed to...squeeze us in without booking but next time we will definitely make a reservation.More

We found this tavern based on reviews. You can easily miss it during the night. Luckily we parked almost outside (there is a line of cars parked vertically on the street). It is in a basement with a fairly basic decoration. We went late 22.10...and they informed us that the kitchen closes in 20 minutes and the restaurant closes at 23.00 they did not show any displeasure us to sit down. The food was really excellent, we tried lamb with baked potatoes and lettuce salad, veal with mushrooms and rice and veal soup with vegetables. Very good quality and all delicious. In terms of food, we definitely recommend it!More

The walk to the restaurant set up a lovely experience. The place was cozy with great decoration, we were attended well by the staff even with our language barrier (their command of English was adequate to serve an international clientele; there were French speakers seated...beside us), and the food was delish, of decent-sized portions, and well-priced. Overall a great experience.More

We enjoyed our meal at the Izbata Tavern. The service was good, the food also good although not the best that we had in Bulgaria. Portions were very large so three courses not possible. The place was relatively quiet (it was a Sunday evening) and...is in a slightly obscure location, but don't let that put you off.More
