The five of us old school friends 26th Feb to 02nd March visited this pub and found it great. I think we had the best food of any place we visited and 8 litres of excellent beer 6.5% abv! The waiter who served had a...marvellous sense of humour and excellent English. I fully recommend coming here!More

We had a really good time in here with my GF, watching sports and eating German food. They had forgotten about our reservation and the waiters mostly look pissed off at you for no reason, but other than that it's a nice place.

Worst experience in eight years of travelling to Bulgaria. We visited this place eager to experience the new concept of pouring your own beer at your table while enjoying the atmosphere. We were directed to a small table and being a couple and having eaten...earlier, this was fine. We settled in, eventually were given h glasses by the double denimed waiter and sampled the rather nice beer on offer. The music and atmosphere were all good and we weren’t in a rush to leave, the restaurant being practically empty and having no plans. Then said waiter informs us that our table is reserved from 18:00 and we need to settle our bill. We were about to order some food but took our business elsewhere instead. Avoid, it’s an overpriced tourist trap.More

The perfect place to hang out with friends and drink a lot of beer. In every table there is a private draft mechanism to pour as much beer as you love. Cheers

We were a fairly large group, around 9/10 but the service was fantastic. Had to wait a little longer for our food but we didn't mind, especially as there was no need to get up for a beer, we had our own tap! Trying to...see how many litters we could drink as a group because a great challenge! I had the chicken with cheese and potatoes, it was amazing!More

Although the concept of pubs and brewpubs were you can pour your own beer is nothing new ,been to 100's of places like this in my many years of travelling but I must say that Ale House is probably the pub that is most definitely...the most memorable, its certainly not aimed at the tourist market ,its certainly no gimmick, it's a great brewpub brewing quality beer in a warm and friendly atmosphere, I had read up about Ale House on the always reliable Ratebeer and our visit easily surpassed our expectations. Walking in and I knew I would enjoy my visit here,as you enter the brewpub the big shiny brew vats are prominently on display, walking down the stairs into the main room is cool, beer posters and enamels adorning the walls, the main rooms downstairs are superb, wood panelled walls and big chunky wooden tables and chairs and plenty of seating options, we luckily managed to get an alcove table ,beer pump was on the wall ,we were handed our glasses and away we went, beer was superb,a light, hoppy and unpretentious lager style beer, very easy to pour even easier to drink ,we had an absolutely fantastically time in here stayed for well over an hour ,never sampled the food but I must say that the meals leaving the kitchen looked and smelt delicious and on our next visit to here we are most certainly going to sample their meal menu. We really enjoyed our beers in here and when we are back in Sofia next year are most certainly going to revisit this brewpub. Ale House is easy to locate along Ul. Hristo Belchev. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, 11am till Midnight. A wonderful brewpub, one I highly recommend you visit if your in the area.More

Went here for an afternoon to share a bottle of wine and a few snacks. Good service and great wine, draft beer and food. The premises is in cellar and was cozy and warm. Well worth a visit.

Was here on recommendation of coworker. It’s a bit tricky place as it doesn’t look as a restaurant when you look from the street... entrance on the ground floor, but everything else is in the basement... I was alone so I was seated at the...high table usually only to drink with no beer tap ( this is what the restaurant is famous for), even plenty of tables were simply empty...I was told I should make the reservation?!? Was disappointed on that! Otherwise, their own beer is great, food delicious.More

The service is super rude, they have minimum bill requirement and the waiter insisted on higher tip. This is illegal! P.S. no music and bad ventilation.

It’s tucked away just off the main boulevard in the centre. Each table has a tap for their live beer. It’s great. Menu is very varied and interesting. Unfortunately you can’t sit outside so smokers go out into the street. Worth a visit if you’re...in the area.More
