Nice mexana in Sofia, place is a little dark in lighs, but rooms are nice and prices are alligned to Sofia (so not to Mexana).
Waitress was kind and I enjoied a lot the Sirene na Shopski, that is so good.
I have visited here twice in the last few days. I have found it to be a very welcoming place with tasty food and lively clientele. The menu is pretty extensive and I enjoyed my choices, rabbit one day and pork loin on another. The staff...serve very discretely and there is no pressure from them. The beer garden is the place to eat in the summer with its ethnic music and decor. This is how I imagine food would be presented and served in the country, tasty and unpretentious. I am very happy to have come across it. A very good place to unwind from city noises.More
I had dinner in the summer garden of Mehana Mamin Kolyo, and it was a very good experience: food was very good (I had касапска гозба - a kind of beef stew, fries and Bulgarian bread with cheese), servings were big, service was very good...and quick, and prices were moderate.More
Stylish and decorative were our first impressions of this expansive eatery. Arriving quite late on a Friday evening, we were delighted to get a table in the grand summer garden.
We had delicious mains, including pork in honey and a chicken helping, with fried potatoes....Not refusing desserts, we went for lemon cake. With drinks and finishing with cappuccino and coffee, every offering delectable.
With great staff, great value and lovely atmosphere, it gets a very high mark.More
A typical local restaurant without the touristic touch, even if the guests were mostly tourists this evening. Waiter couldn’t recommend any of their specials so just spotted something that was ok after all, one big mistake, the stew cooked in a clay pot wasn’t warm...at serving, of course it was made before but then reheating it and still not warm in the middle, no good.
Think there are better alternatives around the corner.......More
This is a very authentic experience. They're not trying to be, it's just that the local crowd make it so. book a table because you want to be on the bottom floor.
Great food, heavy though, so get there on an empty stomach.
If you're...lucky the'll be dancing and general party atmosphere downstairs later in the evening.
There is a fair bit of indoor smoking going on so if that is not to your fancy, don't visit this place.More
This is our favourite restaurant in Sofia, and always dine here when visiting the city. The menu features a large selection of traditional dishes, served in a true Bulgarian ambiance. My wife's family come from Bulgaria, and she enjoys eating the food that her mother...used to cook. We usually come early in the evening when it is still quiet, but our last visit was on a Saturday night, and was packed (luckily we had ordered a table) and boisterous, with music and dancing.More
We have been there before and it was ok.
But they have changed. The food was bad and service not very happy looking. The atmosphere is great but shame for the prices are high and the quality of the food is really bad.
It is...very bizzare what huge difference between countrysde reastaurants and capital ones in quality and prisesMore
