Fast service and a great introduction to the national fast food of Bosnia. Chances are that you won't find it better anywhere else.

It is one of the must-visit restaurants at Baščaršija, but if we compare the food quality to some other Sarajevo restaurants, it was just nothing special. Service was quick, but we were later somehow pushed from the table by the next guests. The "normal" combination of "desetka" (10 čevapčiči in a lepinja bread) + kajmak cheese + yogurt + Šopska... My hubby is a proud carnivore from Sarajevo and this is always our first stop in town. Željo 1 hasn't disappointed yet and consistently delivers a tasty, affordable meal over the years. The čevapi are tasty, juicy, not overly spiced or salty and the bread is plump and holds soaks kajmak without turning into a soggy mess. Tip: Advise your... More

Zeljo was recomended to us by a lot of people. We did not wait too long, despite a lot of people but that was only good thing.. Cevapcici was very bad, tasted like smoke. Not spiced enough. Just realy bad. The place is crowded, people sit and get their food in 5 min. and are "forced" to eat fast because... More

My family and I ate cevapi for the first time at Zeljo. The food itself was delicious (and the portions enormouse - my wife and I had a medium size each, 200g of meat, and it left no room for breakfast the day after), and the staff was friendly and patient with the admittedly clueless tourists we are ("How do... This eatery gets straight to the point when it comes to churning out cevapi. The atmosphere is utilitarian in nature, no glitz and glamour involved; however, there doesn't need to be because the cevapi and accompanying grilled bread will leave you begging the owners for their recipes. The locals are obviously on to this place and for good reason. Do... More

A must-visit place specialising in a few typically Bosnian dishes like cevapi. Probably the best version of that dish we've had. Definitely worth a visit.

The best čevapi in the world. Traditional Bosnian food. Must try. The service fastest. It took probably 30 second from my order till I get čevap.
