This is one of my favorite restaurants in Sarajevo, you can have a very delicious meal and enjoy the marvelous view of the city. The staff is very friendly and even during the night you can enjoy of a lovely view of the mountains. Lovely place that I definitely recommend.

One of the highlights of our trip to Sarajevo was the visit to KIBE MAHALA restaurant! We walked the 2km uphill from the town, passing the war cemeteries and stopping halfway to quench our thirst! We were advised to reserve a table; the views of the city and surrounding hills were stunning. The service was of the highest quality, our waiter recommended everything and was excellent! We enjoyed a couple of beers before ordering, but our waiter had already reserved the lamb for us, which he said would vanish as soon as the locals arrived. We started with the smoked trout, then the spit roasted lamb with various side dishes. The wine, recommended by our waiter was excellent and beer from the local brewery! Our bill was €90 which included water, and good quality wine and beer! We had a lovely evening and then slowly made our way back down the hill to our apartment!

Good value for the money, in general. Food is ok, limited choice in menu and not children friendly (even dough at lunch time during the weekend there was several kids with family on the top floor). But the view, great service and professionalism is the best you can get in Sarajevo.

When you walk into Kibe Mahala you are blown away by the beautiful decor, the amazing view of the city and the delightful ambiance. Unfortunately, this is short lived. The food is nothing special. My husband got the lamb, it was expensive and had zero flavor. How do you make lamb without any flavor? Especially when it's clearly visible on the spit? The table split the Muckalica and it was the worst any of us have ever had and we went with two locals. I got the meatballs in cream sauce, they were cold and lacking cream sauce. The portions are small, there's nothing special about the food and the restaurant turns into a smoke box after 6pm. The restaurant offered live music. We took a video of our friends singing along and you can see the smoke wafting throughout the restaurant. I will say the service is decent and the wine suggestions were wonderful. I would go back for a glass of wine and the view but I'll eat before I leave the house.

We booked a table 7 days in advance. It was a celebration, a very special occasion, so, of course we were going to book a table on time. We asked to be seated so that we have a very nice view of the city. When we came, they put us in the corner of the restaurant, and there was no view of the city. My partner who was sat across from me, was looking at the entrance hall of the restaurant, and I had a small glimpse of the city behind him, which is not what we asked for. We explained to the person seating us that we booked a table a week before, and that we want to be seated at the table that we booked, and they told us that there is nothing they can do about it. Then, a table got free, the exact same one that we asked for with, the view, and we asked to be moved there, and they refused, and then they sat to people they didn’t even have a reservation there. And I’m not guessing if they had a reservation or not, I actually heard them say “we do not have a reservation, do you have an available table”, and they said yes, and put them at that free spot that we asked to be moved to. It was a horrible experience, especially considering that we booked a table, a week in advance, just to be put in the worst corner of the restaurant with the least amount of view, when the view is specifically what we asked for. Also the waiter was so rude, it took him 10 minutes to bring us the menus, and then another 10 to come take her order. For 10 minutes he ignored our calls, and he would talk to the other staff members. So he wasn’t busy. It is also very overpriced and the portions are quite small. But even if we disregard the prices and the food, what really ruined the experience was how rude the staff was.

I guess the people are coming here for the view. ,well we did not get the wiew because we did not got a table with a wiew, even we asked the manager and 2 tables with a view were available the whole time we dine in. The food is average nothing special.. the bread is from supermarket and funny think we ordered 5 portion of lamb they all came in the same plate so we needed to divided by yourself. The waiter was very nice and professional but is not enough reason to go there.

Dear SorinS48, first of all, thank you for taking the time to leave your comment about your experience at Kibe Restaurant. Right at the beginning, we would like to make one thing clear at this point, we have confirmed the reservation that you made through the Hotel Marriott in Sarajevo. I personally explained to you why at the beginning we could ensure you a table by the window, and I asked why you canceled the same reservation the day before? - I really couldn't understand your answer- that remains a mystery to us!! the fact that we later decided to offer you a table by the window has nothing to do with an apology on our part, but for another reason, namely, that other guests would have to cancel their reservation a few minutes before for private reasons. We can understand that you did not enjoy the food in our restaurant and you are absolutely right to say so, but we assume that you are neither a cook nor a baker and would describe our homemade bread as one from supermarkets. And finally, so that our future guests can get a conclusion, our nice colleague Nina, who served you and your friends, asked you how you want the roast lamb to be served, she suggested it on an oval platter and you have it said yes. At the moment we can only say that you said in conclusion that our restaurant, even if it offers a good and courteous service, would not be recommendable: Thank you for being with us and enjoying a nice view. Best regards, Adis Grahic Restaurant Manager

I had stumbled across Kibe Mahala upon researching best restaurants in Sarajevo. It was on my list to visit and as soon as our local guide told us it’s where he proposed to his partner, we booked in for a meal. Where to begin? The restaurant is simply stunning, the entire venue is. We went at night and if I could do it again I’d go right at sunset to enjoy the beautiful view of the city. The food is traditional Bosnian cuisine and it was divine. What I loved the most is that the exec chef/4th gen owner actually walks around the floor, he offered to take photos for us and he even showed us around his beautiful place. A visit here is an absolute must - you will not regret it.

Not new to this restaurant. Got dissapointed with it. The waiters started indirectly asking us to leave around 10.30pm :( No live music. There are two musicians walking around tables for about 30 mins. If you pay them they will sing next to your table. Portions of not tasty baked potatoes are a big joke. Also cabagge salad pure joke. It is the cheapest veggie in Bosnia. They are not selling the Bosnian way of serving any more. Became way too commercial. There are better restaurants....

We have been here many times before and were very negatively surprised to see, that the quality of the food decreased (lamb wasn't even roasted well, klepe were hard as stone, kljukuša as well,..). Service was very slow and not very polite. The only nice experience was the nice view...but there are many other good restaurants in Sarajevo with a nice view AND good quality of food and service. If you still book this restaurant, make sure you are not given a table at the attic "mandarda" - very dark and overheated.

I have to say I was disappointed with this restaurant. The service is lacking and you are just ignored. Nobody comes to ask if you need anything and even gettign the bill is a mission. The lamb which is the signature dish was average at best. I have had far better in less upmarket restaurants. Also the presentation was lacking. You just get pieces of lamb on a plate with no garnish, etc.

This is a very "outside the path" restaurant that looks like a perfectl normal house in a residential area. It has a quite cosy interior, but the best is the view over the whole town. We ate there during ramadan and it was great to have the possibility to experience the food culture. The portions were generous and the food variety interesting - probably connected to how one deal with food during ramadan, though. The service was quite good and fast, even though the restaurant was quite busy and we were a large group of people. I do not remember that any dish sticked out for being particularly good, but I do remember enjoying the lemon based drink and I thought that the coffee, although was not particularly tasty or special, was nice to get it served in a typical way. I can remember that the desserts were very rich in sugar, very sweet, but also nice. Alltogether it was a great evening. It gave me the possibility to experience the culture and the food from the area. I think the food quality could have been a bit more better - if I think of other places in Sarajevo where I ate, this was not specially remarkable "taste" wise.

We enjoyed an enormous Bosnian breakfast at Kibe Mahala before we checked out of our room there. It truly had a little bit of everything, including a freshly made omelette, 3 types of jam (one made from grapes grown at the property!), delicious butter and sour cream, paprika jam, olives, nuts, two types of bread, fresh fruit, yogurt, honey (the honey in Bosnia is SO good), chicken pate, chocolate spread, mushroom and paprika cheeses, cured meat, local cheese, and dried fruit. We also received freshly made Bosnian coffee. All for €15 each! Feels too good to be true. Stay here, eat breakfast, enjoy the views. I wish we had come here for dinner as well.

In a city that focuses on meat, Kibe Mahala presents the food creatively. Our server suggested a variety for our starters, which was delicious. Lovely wine and excellent views. Definitely a Sarajevo highlight and worth a visit.

My girlfriend and I were at the restaurant for lunch time with reservation in advance. We were surprised with food and wine accompaniment that surpased our expetations. Not to mention the waiter kindness that was lovely and the view over the city. Would definitely recommend to any one.

This hotel - restaurant, a little ride outside of the city centre, was recommended to me by a friend. The food and service were excellent and the food was paired with some nice local wines. I had amongst others the tartar - Kadaif, the homemade ajvar and the peppers which were all excellent. When you go there recommend to ask for a window seat which will give you a great view on Sarajevo as the place is up in the hills.
