We often eat here when waiting for the red-eye flight back to LAX. Lot's of good food at easy on the wallet prices. Choose from steaks, burgers, oriental, pizza, sandwiches and lots more. We enjoyed some terrific crepes at the Red Ball rouloutte. The roullottes offer the best food for the price in Papeete.

We checked reviews by other trip advisors and ate at Chez Mamy....choosing two varieties of duck (both very moist and flavorful), lemon chicken, tofu mapo, and chow mein. Enjoyed everything. At about $20 per person including drinks it was especially good value for Tahiti. Had dessert crepes at Le Boulle Rouge and enjoyed those too. The atmosphere was low key... More

This was my favorite moment in Papeete: going to eat Place Vaiete. You eat very good for a cheap price. And if everybody wants to eat different king of food, don't worry, you can sit wherever you want and eat from differents "roulottes" without any problem if you ask the owner of the table before.

Enjoyed our evening dinner here. It is a nice change from a restaurant scene to be able to walk around near the harbor a view all the different offereings that the vendors are preparing. Also nice place to mingle with local families while enjoying your food outdoors at the tables that are set up. Area is clean and well maintained.... More

We ate at the "Chez Dominique" van all 3 nights that we stayed in Papeete. The portions were so big that on the third night we shared the steak frites between us! The poisson cru was also excellent and the portion huge! The vans were very busy every night with a mix of locals and tourists. The only small downside... More

With so many 'roulottes' (snack vans) in one place competition is hot and ensures the quality is high. Plenty of locals eat here too. The local dishes of Poisson Cru and Sashimi were better than in the expensive hotels. Lots of Chinese food, plus pancakes and pizza. Expect good size portions, as a family we often shared 2-3 dishes leaving... More

this is the best place to eat "a la belle etoile" (under the stars). good food, large choice of cuisine, opportunities to talk to people, and to make friends.

During my stay in Tahiti, i went multiples times to thoses roulottes and I found an interesting way of experiencing local street food at reasonable price. Sure it's nothing comparable to high standing restaurants in the 4 or 5 stars hotels, but it would be a pity to visit French Polynesia without trying at least one time, the experience of... More

A polynesian version of the fast food, one should not go to Tahiti without spending at least a dinner there.
