So, given that my fiancee and I are both Brazillian it should mean that we know our coffee, right? Even so, it was really good, The Cortado coffee I ordered felt like perfection, as if every other Cortado was trying to copy the one I...ordered here. The desserts were just the right amount of sweet and perfectly delicious. The apple pie was soft as a cloud and the best one we've ever had. Even having limited time here in Montevideo, we decided to go back and have another wonderful brunch.More

Food was most wonderful. Staff was helpful and courteous. Drink, grappameil Rosa Negro was awesome. Ambiance was 1877. Will dine there again. Near museums.

This was such a good find! We had the most amazing brunch here. Our waitress couldn't have been nicer. She was very attentive and so welcoming. The food was lovely and there were plenty of options avaliable. They also did very good deals on meals...and drinks. The atmosphere was very old world with historic pictures adorning the walls which was lovely. I would go back time and again.More

Cozy cafe restaurant with good coffee and yummy food in the old town. Opened in 1877 , so it’s unique and culturally interesting.

We enjoyed a great breakfast in this cafe which says it is the oldest in Montevideo. Good service and great food.

Went here for a morning coffee and croissants . Busy but not full. Waitress took an age to bring the menu then another eternity to take the order. Meantime what appeared to be a local family sat next to us, were served, ordered, drinks brought,...had a chat while drinking said beverages, paid and left before our coffee arrived - missing the croissants! About half way down our coffee the waitress realised about the croissants. The coffee was nice but the service left a bitter taste. The decor is okay but I’m sure there are plenty of other nice historic places in the city for a drink. Why didn’t we complain you ask? I wanted to see how sloppy the service was.More

This well known cafe is in Ciudad Vieja only two blocks from where we live and so it's very convenient with employees who are always most pleasant andhelpful. The coffee is always a treat and the few food items I've had have been yummy. It...has a really nice neighborhood feel to it and is quite welcoming.More

So me and my gf went just for a pre dinner drink. The Campari and OJ was delicious. Very cute and quaint place and many were having dessert — they had a display case with a number of yummy looking tart/pies.

We did not eat here only had a couple of drinks. Super cute spot with a nice whiskey/scotch selection. The baked good looked outstanding. Worth a stop for sure. Super cute and cozy.

I loved the ambience of this place. The photos, drawings and paintings on the wall, the feeling you’ve stepped back in time, the ornate architecture and design. Good location and great for coffee and croissants

I found out about this "historical" place through TripAdvisor and decided to pay it a visit when we were in Montevideo. We went there for lunch, managed to get a nice table just by the main window. The interior was simply beautiful. It was like...we had stepped back in time. Our lunch was also very good. I had bees steak, and my friend had gnocchi. All very well presented. Service was friendly and swift. Highly recommended!!More

My partner and I visited this beautiful old cafe (apparently one of the oldest in Montevideo) for breakfast. We had a completo and a Ciudad Vieja, and both were fantastic. Staff were very friendly and prices reasonable. Highly recommend!

A very cool little cafe very near Independence Plaza. The coffee is good, of course but what excited my wife was actual American breakfast options. Eggs and toast with jam and omelettes.

As Montevideo's oldest cafe, this place certainly oozes old-school charm and nostalgia. Came here for an early morning breakfast and coffee. Soaked in the romantic atmosphere in the quiet mornings in Old Town. Worth a visit if you're int he area!
