Went with a large group about 10-12 people in total. We had the room upstairs which has a casual seating area with coaches and then a large table. We started in the casual area with starters. Croquettes, calamari, and antipasto platter. Along with some Uruguayan wine. The service was great there and during the meal. The wine was flowing. There... More

We have been to this restaurant for dinner on 01Jun2016. Food is regular and wines overpriced (ex.: a Familia Deicas Preludio Barrel Select Lote 92 2009 was USD 29,58 more expensive at this restaurant than at the wine store). I had brownie with vanilla ice cream for dessert, but the brownie was too dry. The espresso was not good. I... More

Great ambiance, location and view. The meat is pretty good, great variety and also great local Tannat wines. Went for dinner and some local meat were missing. Overall great restaurants. Makes everyone happy.

A very good option to enjoy the Uruguayan cuisine, amazing meat cuts and an all you can eat sword meat menu. Also nice view of the Plata River

I think we must have tried 30 different types of meats including things as exotic as deep fried cow thyroid. All of it was absolutely amazing. Better than US Brazilian Churrascarias like Fogo De Chow and one quarter of the price. Staff is attentive and anyone travelling from the US or Europe can eat like a king for next to... More

We happened by chance to visit La Casa Violeta as we were walking along the rather spectacular Ramblas along the Montevideo shore. The restaurant has a nice overview of the Rambla and Rio de la Plata and specializes in meat, mainly beef as do most restaurants in Uruguay. One need to ring the bell to enter. The place is cozy,... On the recommendation of the staff at the Hilton GI, who made reservations for us, we enjoyed an excellent meal! Even the kids loved the salad bar. Wine recommendation from the waiters were spot on! We chose selections of various "carnes" and the meal rivalled our best dinners out in Argentina.

Lovely place and atmosphere on the Rambla. You have to ring the doorbell to get in. Very nice wait staff. Most restaurants in Montevideo start you with a nice, free, hors de oeuvre-delicious! Big salad bar-it looked delicious and fresh but we didn't partake. This is a fine dining restaurant specializing in beef. Everything was top notch except the beef.... More

The view is great - hardly surprising considering the location overlooking the Rambla / River Plate, but the food is very disappointing in this restaurant. I had steak and it wasn't very good quality, which is surprising for Montevideo and the service wasn't very good either. Over-priced - I suggest if you really want to come here, come for a... More

This restaurant is, in my opinion, clearly overrated. Food is not impressive and the place is not extraordinay, except for the view. There are much better restaurants in Montevideo.
