We were taking a walk and searched for some place to eat dinner and place looked like something we were looking for, normal looking, a lot of people but not crowded (just enough) so we stepped in. The lady who served us was very polite, she showed us everything we wanted to know, she wasn´t scared that we speak only... More

Great location within Montevideo, prompt and friendly service, but just bad food. I ordered the chivito al plato, and was quite underwhelmed with a greasy, overly salted but otherwise tasteless piece of meat and stack of fries. For $20 USD, no bargain here.

La Paponita has an excellent chef who goes out of the way to prepare the meals. The place always seems full of customers, and everyone gets served by waiters who are more efficient than most in Montevideo. The meal we had was outstanding. I was with a vegan friend and we asked if the chef could make us a vegan... More

We Must of went at a good time, upon seeing some other peoples reviews, we have been here about 5 times and the food was great, service was excellent, and the price I thought was pretty fair. We would get the local sandwich Chavito with papas fritas, most of the time, but have tried other dishes. and a bottle of... More

Nothing out of the ordinary here, with bland ambient, bland decoration, and of course, bland food - especially the pizzas. Well overall this was an OK place, but it maybe simply that we were not used to the pizzas in Uruguay style...

I'm spoiled. We make our own pizza - on the grill. We prefer a thin crispy crust. We are used to American pizza, but now that we are in Uruguay we thought we would give a local pizza a chance. It is quite different than pizza Americans are used to. I have to say it reminded me of a pizza... More

Apart from being a meeting place for expats, this place really doesn’t have much going for it. It is located on 18 de Julio, which is the main drag of Centro, but it is not in the main shopping area or close to the Old City. The menu is fairly limited. They specialize mainly in pizza, with a base about... More

This place was just average no more, no less. Nothing to write home about but certainly adequate. Menu was better than the food, in a place where good beef and fine wine abound. good for a quick bite.

This place was recommended by the New York Times, so I decided to check it out. I inhaled a delicious "Chivito al Plato Canadiense" (steak with ham, cheese, egg, thick cut bacon, tomato and other fixings) in what might have been the most authentic meal of my Montevideo trip. Loved it!

I arrived in Montevideo late and found this place. It was quite empty but the service was excellent and the pasta dish that I ordered was very tasty.
