A nice restaurant near the market but food preparation was very slow and it wasn't that busy. Portions and quality fine. Overpriced compared to better establishments in the old town. Mainly for tourists.

It was quite late at night when we were looking for a restaurant for a dinner. Hardly any restaurants open at that time, then we saw this place which was looks cool from the outside. Menus are interesting, good music inside. Clean location too. We...ordered the Melanesa and Paella. The food was very tasty and the quantity is worth for the price.. Staff are nice. The only thing that put us off was when we requested for our bill and to our great dismay we saw some charges like "Cubiertos charges" which means cover charges. That one was understandable, any restaurants we ran into always have charges like this. BUT this restaurants also included in the total of our bill the "SERVICE CHARGE". Although it says "OPTIONAL" on the bill, they included it in the total (which I found very smart YET very deceiving). If we were not checking thoroughly the bill, and looked at it just once, we were not be able to notice it at all and just paid it immediately. When you eat in here, check carefully your bill..More

We visited for dinner, and ordered a paella and melanesia. The food was tasty and of sufficient portion. Staff were polite. Interior is nicely decorated with a good ambience. Unfortunately the bill left a bad taste as in addition to out order, there was a...cover charge of 190 Ur$ per person and an additional 250 service charge! Which I find quite ridiculous, without informing the customer. Luckily even though the service charge is included in the final amount, it is an optional payment. Please read your bill carefully before paying.More

Recommended by our free walk guide we hoped for a nice dinner here and ordered fish of the day assuming it would be local fresh fish. We could only have fries or rice or salad or potatoes so one of us ordered fries and the...other salad and we shared. It took ages to arrive in spite of the fact there were only 4 couples in the restaurant and I know why - because they cooked it to death. Two huge fillets arrived on each plate even my husband couldn’t have eaten that amount. The fish was lukewarm, bland, chewy, rubbery and tasteless. The salad was 5 half slices of a large tomato, some lettuce and a whole pile of grated raw carrot- pretty uninspiring. Seriously I’ve never had fish like that before, chewing it endlessly I thought I’d never be able to swallow it, so disappointing.More

So, I'm not going to lie, I was a little let down they did not have some local fish for lunch. I had some pretty good salmon with some white wine after a walking tour of the city. I decided to treat myself as this...was my last meal in Uruguay before I took the ferry back to Buenos Aires. I decided on a shot of Fernet Branca and a dessert. The name escapes me, but it is a conical chocolate shell that conceals ice cream and dulce de leche. When I say it was good, I do not mean like the simple, flippant response one gives when asked about a meal; simply the midway point on the spectrum as an absence of bad. No, when I say this dessert was good, it was like the first time I saw the Birth of Venus in Florence, or Angkor Wat in Cambodia, only this majesty was relegated to a spoon. Fully sated by this touch of the divine, my waitress came by to ask me how it was; I embarrassed both of us by saying the first thing that came to mind, this dessert was better than sex.More

I ate here twice on the weekend. Sat. I had the pork with fruit and it was delicious, the wine was good and I sat talking to people at the next table for 3 hours. So I went back the next day. My waiter didn't...even try to understand my limited Spanish. I couldn't have any wine with my food order. The whole experience on the second visit was disappointing. I had at least 4 people serving only me. the place was empty and I understand why now. Don't go on Sunday.More

This place is in old town and near the port. Had ribs, beer and salad and they were good. Service was also very good even though the waiter had limited English. Food was plentiful.

We wanted to try beef in Uruguay since they are known for it. We sat outside and ordered a bottle of wine which they did not have but suggested another. It was o.k. We were given a menu, but the waiter never returned back. After...15 minutes we had to flag her down to order. My husband ordered beef ribs and I ordered some local rich with potatoes. Mind you everything was over priced. Our meal came about 35 minutes later. The beef ribs where like Maui style, mostly fat and the taste was rancid. We cut off the meat and took it for the street dogs. My fish was greasy and the fries were like slabs of Potatoes with no flavor. We took those for the street dogs as well. The waitress had a bad attitude and acted like she really could care less about being there. We had to flag her down again for the check. Mind you we are Americans but I speak Spanish. I wish I looked at the reviews on this place before we sat down! By the way the dogs did t eat the fish either! Don't eat here!More
