This bar always exists. It is a traditional old bar in downtown that survived so many years and carries so much history. I had Sancochado twice at lunch time. It was good. It gets crowded. I always go back.

We visited this bar after walking around the Plaza Armas - short walk around the corner. It has an interesting story of how the bar came about, its history with Pisco Sour, and how the owner gave the bar to the employees. Check out the history - it will lend a context to the ambiance and deco of the place... More

Wonderful genuine interior, more than 100 years old, and little changed. Great atmosphere and superb location opposite the Desamparados railway station and adjoining the side of the Presidential Palace - indeed the street it is on is full of historic buildings and perhaps the best restored in the city. The food is excellent - big plates of real food. I... More

Enjoyed a ham sandwich for lunch but it was the place that attracted us. So different and definitely not "run of the mill".

This is a wonderful place for a light lunch after exploring the Plaza de Armas. The food is displayed on counters, but there is also a menu. You can't beat the local atmosphere.

This place in a highly convenient downtown location has a lot of history to it. That history is transmitted through decoration and the architecture of the building and its surrounding. Cost wise, it is is cheap. Half a jar of lemonade plus 2 appetizers to share amounted to SOL 44 or USD 15. Having said, other than the charm associated... More

We shared a tamal, my wife had the vegetable stuffed avocado and I had the cow brain omelette. It was as good as my mother's from 50 plus years ago. A must try in old Lima.

Perfect atmosphere to cap off an afternoon tour of the marvelous city of Lima. Old style, charming and perfectly located. We just ordered tamales and papa a la huancaina. Delicious both. Will return soon for a proper segundo.

We found this restaurant in our LP guidebook, attracted by its age--open since 1905! We absolutely loved the atmosphere--the tiled floor and wood bar--it was like stepping back in time. We also enjoyed the food (enough to come back twice). Highly recommend if you want a bit of old timey charm.

Just off the Plaza - we stumbled upon this place -- traditional - lots of history - food was great! Just the perfect place to feel like you are part of the culture of Lima! Loved it!
