Knowing this is the 4th best restaurant in the world, we had to check it out on vacation in Lima. We booked a prime dinner time reservation for 7pm on a Saturday 3 months in advance. We secured the reservation on their website on the day the seats were released. I appreciated the informative menu and the use of indigenous... More

Upon entering the restaurant, one could tell this wasn't a similar restaurant to the trattoria next door. The staff were attentive but the hight of professionalism, the ambience stunning, the lack of windows balanced by the views of a fantastically worked professional kitchen, well deserving of the platitudes it has received. The table we were served on was made with... More

My friend and I dined here for lunch a couple of days ago. This is a place where one must make reservations 3 months in advance for dinner. It is listed as the #1 restaurant in S. America. We did not have reservations. They do a lunch Monday through Friday, so we decided to be at the front door before... More

First thing to keep in mind if you're going for the Mater Elevations menu (16 courses) is that the portions seem to get bigger and more meat-centric as you go, and it can be a struggle to finish everything (the missus couldn't). The last 3-4 courses are deserts which is OK though. The menu can be hit and miss -... More

High expectations were set when we went to Central for dinner. They exceeded well beyond that. We did the full tasting with pairing. It was an experience to remember. For those who might find 10+ wine pairings a bit much, I'd suggest sharing between 2 people. :) Ricel and his team was great! Can't wait to try the new place... More

Overall an excellent restaurant. However, the service during the tasting menu was rushed, to the point of causing discomfort and unfortunately degrading the experience. (As a comparison, the service at a top competitor in town was slow, elegant, and truly enjoyable.) The Central tasting menu selected was excellent and told a good story of Peru cuisine. Rather than drinking straight... More

Was going for a big dinner so just stopped by the bar for a beer and light lunch. The glazed octopus was unbelievable. Also got an amuse bouche while waiting which was great.

Peruvian food is among the best on the planet, but I felt Central tried way to hard to experiment with textures and combinations for the sake of it, rather than the taste and celebration of what Peru has to offer. Now, my review is in the context of the cost and the hype that proceeds eating at Central, and I'm... More

Service is impeccable, environment is cool, concept is extremely interesting, presentation of food is beautiful but ultimately the food only tastes "ok." Skip the infused water/juice pairing and go for the wine pairing (most of the non-alcoholic drinks were uninspiring). I would also opt for the 12 course menu over the 16 (I did the 16) since there is a... More
