Id looked up best place to try cuy, and La Cusquenita came up in the top 5. I had gone to the tip ranking one but they wanted 80 soles for the cuy and did not take card, cash only so i went for here....Upon walking in id noticed just how many locals were here, maybe 3-4 other tourists. I was spying everyones plate and the food looked great. The prices are far more inline with locals than the tourist restaurants.
There is live dancing which is cool. I went for the Cuy al Horno and Picarones for dessert. The cuy was nice, but there isnt a lot of meat on it...and so the carby pasta bake and potatoes will fill you up.
A bit 650ml beer is cheaper here than a 330ml one in my hostel.
There is a really large selection of Traditional food here and id recommend coming if you dont know where to start. They take cards too but no wifiMore
Great clean place to try local food -- caldo de gallina, cuy, lomo saltsdo etc. Very tasty, and reasonably priced: about 30 soles per main. Attentive service too.
We came here at 1pm and it was about half full. We were the only tourists, everyone...else was local. At 130pm, they had some dressed up dancers do a simple show for 10 minutes.
Overall the atmosphere was great, it felt like an authentic meal at a lively place versus the stuff closer to Plaza De Armas - which is about 15min away walking.More
It was good food, we ordered lamb ribs and Guinea Pig.. The ribs was really tasty and the Guinea Pig has a lot of spices and herbs inside.. It was great restaurant.. There is a live show at night with musicians.. Its just that it...was not quiet(peaceful) since there is always a music, (noise) .. But it's not a big deal. We enjoy the food..More

Too noisy, waiters not very attentive nor friendly and particularly dried and untasty food far from the tradition. It is industrially done and made with no love to the food it intends to teach nor to the customer. No wifi.
I was really bummed out after my experience here, especially since it was recommended by people I knew who suggested I should come try this place out. The place is undoubtably large and very nicely designed. There was even a live show that I was...able to see, sadly I saw pretty much all of it while I waited for over 30 minutes to be attended to. After the waiter finally took my order, I waited over an hour to finally receive my food and was highly disappointed and sad by this point. So, by the time my food was "about" to come I had decided to just pay for my drink and leave, I was really hungry and had just finished volunteering at the clinic I was going to every morning. I am big on having patience and waiting but honestly felt extremely neglected as a customer. I don't like giving bad reviews, so I'm trying to give a recommendation for those who do decide to go. Make sure you are assertive and if you feel you are waiting too long to be attended to, make sure you call someone over and make yourself known because its a bummer not being able to try the food and just sitting around for almost 2 hours.More
This place was recommended by some folks who went for lunch. When we entered we asked if there would be entertainment and they assured us they would be on shortly. We never saw them. The food appeared authentic and was good. The service was not....Average prices.More
