Las Gringas is a peruvian pizzeria and craft beer bar, where Peruvian ingredients are the star of the show. Wood burning masterpieces that feature quinoa flour, purple corn infused bases, inka berries, andean sprouts and local and seasonal produce. The menu also features Gluten free pizza and pasta, seasonal salads and a wide selection of local and imported beers on tap and artisanal gins.
We’ve been here a few times since being in Arequipa, with varied experiences. On our first visit, we had a bubbly young server who went out of her way to recommend different lunch dishes and craft beers and our food was delicious.
In the visits...since, we have only eaten once due to the kitchen being closed until later than usual (fair due to it being a holiday) and them only serving pizzas after 5pm. Multiple groups came and left as well as us on both of these occasions so it would definitely be worthwhile them considering a lunch pizza menu.
Unfortunately, our first visit was seemingly the high point re service. Despite being the only people present and 4-5 employees working on our last two visits, servers were reluctant to interact or take orders, were extremely slow (over 15 minutes to pour three beers between several staff is a bit annoying) and overall just weren’t phased about customers at all.
Thus: good food, average service.More
We visited the little chocolate store next door and decided that Las Gringas looked like a nice place to stop for a drink. We sat down and I noticed that they offered gluten free pizzas - as good gluten free food is hard to come...by in Peru, we decided to stay so I could eat. When I asked if I could have a menu I was told the kitchen didn’t open until 5pm. It was about 3.45 at the time. I had seen some reviews warning that despite advertising gluten free options, there was often low stock, so I checked that they did indeed have gluten free pizzas available. When told they did, my partner and I decided to wait the hour until the kitchen opened.
I asked again to order at 4.45 but was told to wait, and at 5pm told to go back to my table and the server would come to me. When he did, and I ordered, he informed me they had only had one gluten free pizza base in stock and that he had just sold it to another table (who had come in significantly later than us).
Not wanting to have waited for nothing, I ended up ordering a bowl of gluten free pasta. When my pasta was brought out, it was entirely the wrong order, meaning I then had to wait again for my actual order to be cooked. When my pasta did arrive, it was nice, but by no means worth the hour and a half wait!
The beer selection was incredibly overpriced and the service utterly disappointing. Sorry but no recommendation for this place, especially if you are expecting gluten-free (delicious chocolates next door though!)More
Come here for an unusually flavoured pizza, made with fresh ingredients and oven baked to perfection! The free peanuts to nibble at the start when they bring your craft beer is muchly appreciated! Murals on the wall and outdoor seating vibes are awesome, very rustic!...Highly recommend!More
A group of italian Friends In Arequipa with no idea on where to dine. We entered this little place on the
Main street santa Catalina by hazard, and had a quite good pizza served with kindness by Alexandra who, although the late time, was deliciously...behaving with us. We were back a second night and enjoyed the place, clean and using unusual flours and reasonably good ingredients (including fresh basil), as well as a good choice of beers. We highly recommend it for a tasty snack in the splendid city of Arequipa.More
I came twice to the restaurant and it was great, the vegetarian lazania was delicious. The staff was patience and no matter how many qustion we had they kept the good tone and smile on the face! (one of us is vegan so we had...a lot of questions)
The only problem was that it took time for the food to come...More
The food at las gringas was delicious and reasonably priced. We especially liked the popeye pizza and quinoa croquettes. Service by Joshua was very good. He really made an effort to make us feel comfortable. Would certainly go back if we had the chance.
