Great place for dinner. Although not the cheapest in town, it is worth every penny. We really enjoyed the great cheese selection (starter) and a delicious hot stone meat trilogy. What a dream! You have the choice of different meat types (e.g. beef, llama, pork, chicken etc.). Wine is available by bottle (3/8 and 3/4). We recommend taking a table... More

Food was great and of a very high standard for South America however the server added a 20% tip on the amount of the bill on card without informing us. There was no mention of a discretionary tip added to the bill on the menu so we then put 20% tip down in cash on the table and did not... More

The three course set lunches here are great value and high quality. As a group of four we tried variously the 'volcano' menu, featuring a trio of meats on hot stone, the vegetarian menu with Amazonian basil and quinoa gnocchis, and the fish menu with titikaka trout. Nine courses and not a dud amongst them. Drinks menu, cocktails and craft... More

The service was great, it was a good choice take an early lunch because the place wasn't full. We did not wait for a table. The location is awesome and the food is delicious. I went for the vegetarian menu and it was really good and tasty.

Excellent ambiance, superb cuisine (one of our best meals in the 21/2 weeks we spent in Peru), very friendly staff and patrons too along with great price. And an easy walk from our hotel at the Mirador del Monasterio.

The location of the restaurant is in the centre of Arequipa. We had a table reserved for our group upstairs. The wrought iron staircase might be difficult for people with balance problems but there are seats on the main floor with a step down. The 3 meat sampler was delicious and 150 gm is ample with sides. The wine selection... More

The location is ok with no heavy jam traffic! Very quite! The restaurant is nice with posters of old Italian drinks like Campari or Cinzano!!! The menu is very rich ! Last but not least they have an artisanal beer( 3 in particular: porter, IPA and hoppy wheat) that is one of the best!!! The staff also is very efficient,... More

Description
The Alpandina dishes offered by the Zig Zag Restaurant are the result of a creative culinary fusion deeply rooted in the mountains, where the sun endows foodstuffs with energy and balanced components. The dishes most representative of Alpandino gastronomy arise from a marvellous synthesis of unique time-hallowed ingredients from all over Peru, combined with ancient and modern culinary techniques from the Alps and the Andes. One of the results is our great speciality: Volcanic-Stone-Cooked Meats and Fish. This culinary concept was generated specially by the restaurant's proprietor and Chef, Michel Hediger from Switzerland. During the course of many years in Arequipa, Peru, he has developed an original gastronomic proposal which enables one to savour different kinds of food prepared in an exclusive, healthy and very natural style, so that the restaurant's customers might compare and enjoy the country's different flavours. Located in the Historic Centre of Arequipa, opposite the lovely Plaza San Francisco, the Zig Zag Restaurant, with its impressive cast iron staircase designed by the famous French architect Alexandre Gustave Eiffel, is a unique place to enjoy a gastronomic evening with a difference.
