One of the best meals we had in Peru. We ordered two apetizers which were delicious. For mains, we got beef steak and steak trio - both very tasty and cooked to perfection. Great atmosphere and friendly waiters! Must go if you are in Arequipa!

This place has the best fondue in Peru, it belongs to a foreign couple and they mixed their knowledge adding alpaca meats and local products to their menus. Highly recommended for fine dining.

We booked this restaurant in advance and were glad that we did as there was no chance of getting in without it. The trilogy of meats, beef alpaca and pork or chicken was an excellent choice.

We dropped in without a reservation. We had a drink in a area separate from the dining area. It had a real fireplace. They provided a free sample of local hors d'oeuvre while we waited for our table. Both our meals were so delicious and the service attentive, and cheerful that we went back again the next night

My husband and I had dinner at Zig Zag and have been raving about it ever since. The food was fresh, delicious and imaginatively prepared. We went early as we did not have reservations and got a window table overlooking the San Francisco church. Wow! It was a memorable meal in a memorable setting. Highly recommend!

We shared the duck dish, we were warned it would be chewy, as it was a local bird, but the flavour was superb. The meals are really quite large, the shared duck with mixed potatoes & salad would have been a fine meal for the two of us - but we had ordered the rack of lamb as well, it... More

We were extremely lucky to get a seating at 8:30 on a Sunday nite without reservations. Do make them! Upstairs larger groups gathered and the atmosphere was loud and convivial. A spiral staircase was access route. Our table was in a cozy spot downstairs. Nice lighting, nice ....not too loud music. All four dinners were perfectly cooked and presented .... More

Very nice atmosphere. Great service, fairly large portions. Staff speaking English. We enjoyed our food and wine after days in Colca.

The food was very good, even if the meat was slightly overcooked. The waitresses were also very friendly. We highly recommend it !

The Alpandina dishes offered by the Zig Zag Restaurant are the result of a creative culinary fusion deeply rooted in the mountains, where the sun endows foodstuffs with energy and balanced components. The dishes most representative of Alpandino gastronomy arise from a marvellous synthesis of unique time-hallowed ingredients from all over Peru, combined with ancient and modern culinary techniques from the Alps and the Andes. One of the results is our great speciality: Volcanic-Stone-Cooked Meats and Fish. This culinary concept was generated specially by the restaurant's proprietor and Chef, Michel Hediger from Switzerland. During the course of many years in Arequipa, Peru, he has developed an original gastronomic proposal which enables one to savour different kinds of food prepared in an exclusive, healthy and very natural style, so that the restaurant's customers might compare and enjoy the country's different flavours. Located in the Historic Centre of Arequipa, opposite the lovely Plaza San Francisco, the Zig Zag Restaurant, with its impressive cast iron staircase designed by the famous French architect Alexandre Gustave Eiffel, is a unique place to enjoy a gastronomic evening with a difference.
