The highlight is the fish. Good quality fish and a decent size serving (N American standard sizing). The artistic curly fries are tasty. But... the artistry has a few downsides ... thin and thus the cool down fast. Long, curly and springy! Watch your ketchup...and mayo... your face or your partner may be wearing it!More
This place is nicely situated right by the river in the centro historico. It has a nice area for outdoor seating, and the indoor seating is nice as well. They have some of the best burgers I've had in the country. Their bacon blue cheese...burger is absolutely amazing. Portions are fairly large - you could probably share if you don't have a huge appetite.More
We've never had a bad meal here, nor a bad drink. We come often for their happy hour because they truly make the best mojitos in Cuenca. Also love their sliders, hamburgers, micheladas, curly fries, fish and chips, and shakes. Very nice staff and service...as well. This is one of my favorite places in Cuenca.More
We come to Cuenca 90 days a year on a tourist visa. Each year, we rediscover Mayu Restaurant and each time we are delighted to have done so, but wonder what takes us so long. Slow learners, I guess. Yesterday, we were walking along the...river, not really intending to have a meal, but their sign with the word pastrami screamed out at me. Good grief, the sandwich was like a submarine. It was beyond my expectations, but I devoured every morsel. Since they wrap it so nicely, I cut it into thirds, which kept the remaining parts warm while I savored one third. Since we live in Hungary, pastrami is almost impossible to come by. My husband had the blue cheese burger with bacon. He could not finish the burger and the curly fries; the portions were abundant. This is a great dining experience.More
This place makes you think you’re not even in Cuenca. Very unique place with many choices not found other places. Baked potatoes, nice steak, good sandwiches, and good fish and chips.
Never had a bad meal! Even when they are busy. Pretty location, huge portions, open on Sundays which is nice, staff are always friendly and accommodating. The Chicken Parmigiano and Pannini's are very satisfying. Oh don't forget those cinnamon rolls !
I can tell you that our friends forewarned us about this place. We walked by last night and they RAVED about the blackberry cinnimon rolls but they cautioned us from trying anything else. I will say that those Blackberry Rolls are TO. DIE. FOR. So...much so that today we walked back to order them again! Instead we decided to have lunch there. With only one other family there it was pretty quiet. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, my husband the veggie philly cheese steak ? and our daughter got ribbon cut fries. I will tell you that the reviews here warned us but we enjoyed our food fully. We took our rolls to go and will devour them at a later time. We ate until our hearts and bellies were content. This is one time I am glad we went on and ate there, granted I will probably order the same thing every time we go but I was happy with their food and service. Also the kiwi juice was Excellent! I loved the our daughter recommends the lemonade which also was in HUGE glasses. Our total was about 34$ to give you an idea.More
I reviewed this 2 years ago when it first opened and said it had good sandwiches. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. I have been there 3 times in the last year. Each time, the sandwich has been poorly made, and I have left...more than half uneaten. I think I am giving up on this place. Too bad, as they had good promise when new. Note: You can tell that this is a common feeling, as it used to be packed at lunch, but the last 3 times I went, there was never more than one or two other people in the restaurant.More
As vegetarian this place is a great option, the Mayu vegetarian burguer tastes amazing, with fries and salad that are a great companion. It offers two environments, indoors and outdoors! Totally recommended!
If you're missing North American style dining and food this is a close second. Pulled pork sliders, burgers, fish and chips, local beers, pastas, pizzas, etc. the prices are higher than other local restaurants. Our party of 5 shared meals, all had drinks and one...dessert-- the total check was $53 incl tip. The food was good. Not out of this world, but good. The key lime pie, however, was on point. Not sure how they made the crust because they don't have graham crackers here, but it was delish! Our waiter provided great service.More
Had one of those huge cinnamon rolls with the cappuccino and it was excellent service was good price is right very good. Trying to get back there for some more delicious food.
The pork sliders are delicious. My daughter, who is sensitive to gluten and friend foods, loves their chicken wings that are not breaded, and my son's fave is the BBQ chicken pizza, and my friend's is the focaccia chicken panini. Also, drinks are nearly always...(maybe even always) 2 for the price of 1. My favorites are the frozen daiquiri and mojitos! YUM!More
Mayu has a huge menu. Everything on the menu is great. There is a bar inside the restaurant and there are options to eat inside and outside. They also have a bakery and great milkshakes. Our favorite dish is the fried fish and the Focaccia...chicken panini.More
We went for lunch on a Friday and the service was good and fast. The food was tasty and plenty. The black beans' burger was really good!
