I will start with how clean and conscience the restaurant is being with the pandemic situation. They are having only small groups and each group is far away from each other. The atmosphere inside and out is amazing, with very creative furniture and decorations. The...staff is very friendly and professional and it is run by Giovanni and his family. They also employee single mothers to work in the kitchen which help them to improve their lives. The food was amazing! The best trout I had in Cuenca so far! The plate presentation was an art. I can't wait to bring more friends to eat there. Thanks Giovanni Cambizaca, the chef patron of Le Petit Jardin for this incredible experience!More

I've eaten at Le Petit Jardin 4 or 4 times, and never have been disappointed. The cuisine and preparation are excellent. My partner and l shared a duck-fat roasted chicken--it was exquisite and I took half of my portion home. The drinks were really good,...as was the dessert. The price, while high for Cuenca, definitely was worth it.More

There is an absolutely huge reason that Le Petit Jardin is rated #1 in all of Cuenca! This ranking is not just from the tourists, but from the residents of this city. Getting to this restaurant that is on the very northwest side of Cuenca...is not an easy venture. GPS does not work so the restaurant has directions on its website. Le Petit Jardin is up a city street (That part is not too hard). Then you make a right turn onto a one-lane dirt road that makes you wonder where the heck you are going. Then! You make a left turn onto a dirt driveway that is narrower than what you have left. Once you get there, you will feel that you have made an excellent choice to venture out to this Azuay homestead. The owner, Giovanni Cambizaca, has done a brilliant job of making this rustic home into a welcoming place to eat and enjoy life. He has created most of the artwork inside of his restaurant. All of it makes it pleasing to the eyes, and cozy and warm. My wife and I started out with hors d'oeuvres. I had Escargots à la Bourguignonne (Snails in Garlic-Herb Butter) while my wife chose Soupe à L'oignon (French Onion Soup). Our friends who drove us up to the restaurant told us that they have a friend who has had French Onion Soup everywhere in the world, and is quite the snob concerning this soup. This friend stated that the Soupe à L'oignon is the best he has ever had. We concur!! Giovanni told us about his specials that included a swordfish stuffed with crab meat and diced potatoes. That interested my wife and I that we both ordered it. Oh my! The fish and crab were very fresh. Giovannia had done a fantastic job of melding the seafood and potatoes together. The presentation was very French and beautiful. Of course, it should be as Giovanni is always making pilgrimages to France to learn the newest techniques and dishes. You can bring your own bottle of wine to Le Petit Jardin. The corking fee is a very reasonable price. Reservations are highly recommended due to limited seating capacity due to the pandemic. Ecuador has rather stringent health protocols in place, and Le Petit Jardin has all of the tables spaced out further than the requirements. Le Petit Jardin has very limited hours. Make plans for only Saturday and Sunday. You read that correctly! This excellent restaurant is open on these two days from 12:00 to 21:00. The final seating is at 19:30 to give all of its guests plenty of time to have a great dining experience. Bon Appétit !More

Probably the best restaurant in Cuenca. The grounds, the building, the atmosphere and the FOOD. Everything we ordered was outstanding. The freshness, the quality, the plating and the flavors. The menu changes weekly and honestly, I want to go every week! Do NOT miss this...gem when you are in Cuenca.More

I don't use the word "perfect" often, but everything we had for dinner tonight WAS perfect. Sometimes you get a delightful blend of flavors in your mouth and think "Oh, that was a good bite!", but both my husband & I felt that way with...every mouthful! For appetizers, I had the clams and my husband tried the Cream of Beetroot & Caramelized Walnut Soup. He was so pleased, I was afraid he was going to lick the bowl! He ordered the Chateaubriand, which was cooked exactly right, and I ordered the Duck Confit, which was very tender & delicious! I had the Gäteau Opera for dessert; my husband enjoyed the Profiteroles so much last time, he ordered a double portion tonight. The chocolate sauce at Le Petit Jardin is fabulous. Both Chef Giovanni & his wife came to our table more than once, to enquire whether we were enjoying our dinner, which framed a perfect meal with wonderful service, on top of the warm & cozy atmosphere, I can't recommend this restaurant enough!More

After our previous fabulous experience, my wife and I decided to revisit Le Petit Jardin for dinner. The food and the service were exceptional. For appetizers, my wife chose the Shrimp Salad while I chose the Fried Calamari. The shrimp was delicious with a red...wine vinaigrette while my calamari was very lightly breaded with a subtle cayenne aioli flavor. Chef Giovanni gave us a sample of the Cream of Carrot & Ginger Soup and the Sautéed Asparagus with hollandaise sauce, goat cheese and serrano ham. Both samples were incredible and will be on our "must have list" for our next visit. For the main course we both had the Chateaubriand (medium rare)... Highly recommended for those who love a delicious beef main course. For dessert, I had the Pear Helene with an exceptional chocolate sauce while my wife stayed with her favorite... Creme Brûlée. We topped off dinner with a Coffee Latte and a Hot Chocolate.More

We went las Friday evening, it was very cold outside, but as soon as we entered, we felt cozy and warm, not only because we sat near the fireplace, but also because every body there is professional but very friendly. We had a nice dirty...vodka martini while we were looking at the menu, with some toast with tapenade (courtesy of the house) , and then my husband had the veal accompany by a very well elaborated potatoes, and I had frog legs with llapingachos. They have a selection of Portuguese wines, and we have a nice bottle that accompanied us during our meal. I would recommend "Terraços do tejo" Great ambience, great food, amazing people !More

It was a cold day in Cuenca today, but the warm fire in the fireplace made it cozy and intimate. The menu changes daily based on what’s good and locally available. I had incredible mushroom soup, eggplant Louis, fresh bread with an awesome (some kind...of pesto sauce/chutney?) topping, deliciously light and perfectly cooked ocean perch on a bed of fresh veggie bits, and créeme brûlée to die for with strong café su lait.More
