Visiting Restaurant Corvel is a delightful experience! We like to sit outside, in the balcony overlooking the garden, next to the frequently-visited hummingbird feeders. The service is always prompt, courteous, & unobtrusive. On our last visit, my husband had his favorite steak dish, Lomo Pimenta,...and I had the Shrimp Apanada. The steak was served in a small skillet with a delicious sauce, and the breaded shrimp was crispy on the outside without being overcooked. The main course was accompanied by corn, apple, & cilantro salads, We both enjoyed the combined flavors of the food, as well as the comfortable setting & the friendly service. Restaurant Corvel is decorated w. many antiques & art objects created by local artisans, which is very interesting. We usually spend time walking around & browsing while we're there. Some of the locally prepared herbs & sauces, used in the preparation of the food, are for sale. My favorite is Finas Herbas. All of the restaurant personnel wore masks, and the tables were set up for safe social distancing. I highly recommend this restaurant for a comfortable & thoroughly enjoyable dining experience.More

About 40 minutes northeast of Cuenca is the small city of Paute. It has about 25,000 residents, and in Paute is an excellent restaurant. My wife and I are surprised that a restaurant in such a small city would have such a high-quality restaurant. We...first experienced Patricio Coronel's wonderful cooking and creativity when he was featured at a Cuenca restaurant. His coconut shrimp that night was some of the best we have ever had! Because of that dining experience, we made the special trip with some friends to Paute... and it was well worth it. In a beautiful and relaxing outdoor setting, all of us chose Patricio's almuerzo. His lunchtime offering is way beyond the average almuerzo one gets. All of us had his roasted chicken with rice. A fresh and very tasty vegetable salad came with it as well as fries. An unlimited amount of Ecuadorean fruit juice came with the lunch that was followed by a small delicious dessert. All of the food is locally sourced and is very fresh. As expected, everyone on the staff was friendly and attentive. Everyone in our group thought the food was exceptional. Add the beautiful and natural ambiance, and will find this restaurant to be ideal for that special lunch or dinner. We think the menu is extensive enough to please everyone in your crowd. Even if you are only visiting Cuenca, hire a driver (It won't be expensive), and make the journey into the country to have a delicious meal. While you are in town, walk along El Río Paute, and visit the world's largest spoon that Corvel helped create.More

I have been to the restaurante a couple of times and have enjoyed every visit a lot. The staff are very friendly, attentive and helpful and add to the overall atmosphere of the restaurant which has a tropical paradise vibe. I am a vegetarian and...have always enjoyed their delicious food. The restaurant is a family business and the care they put into it definitely shows. Lovely place to eat! (Especially if you had enough of standard Ecuadorian cuisine which mainly consists of rice.)More

I am a frequent guest at Restaurant Corvel and I truly enjoy my experience every time I visit. The service is excellent, all the waiters are very kind and attentive to your needs. The restaurant has a beautiful tropical garden with hummingbirds flying around and...there is a playground area for kids. I can especially recommend the Locro de Papas soup, it's a very traditional dish of the region and comes with a handmade wooden spoon that you are allowed to keep afterwards! Make sure to also try "Yaguana", a traditional pink drink made with pineapple. There are vegetarian options on the menu, and the staff will be happy to help you if you have extra wishes. Fun fact: this restaurant actually initiated and led the project of building the largest wooden spoon in the world! It is certified by the Guinness World Record Book and can also be found in Paute! Just ask any staff member about it and they will help you with directions!More

We actually live nearby and this place attracts serious tourists and the food reflects it. Nothing special and for the area, somewhat over-priced. If you are vegetarian dont’ bother! However...for a coffee or dessert in a lovely environment it is worth it and they do...sell local fresh herbs for cooking that are worth buying.More

went there during Cuenca's holiday celebration, the place doesn't say much on the outside but inside is something else, nice nature-style decor. Service was very good and the owner himself came to greet us and recommend some dishes. Food was very good, and reasonably priced.

My wife and I and our oldest son treated ourselves to a farewell dinner at Chef Patricio's Corvel Restaurant at Huayana Capac at Simón Bolivar. Since it was early, we were the only customers there. Chef Patricio greeted us like old friends and family and...the entire staff catered to our every need. Betty ordered the coconut shrimp while I treated myself to an Ecuadorian version of Poutine. Brian had the Sea Bass smothered in a wonderful sauce. All of the dishes were incredible - worthy of any Michelin starred restaurant in Europe. To top off the meal, we shared two perfect Bananas Flambé desserts. If you are in Cuenca and don't go to Corvel, you will be cheating yourself out of a Fine Dining experience.More
