Middle of the World Monument at the Equator marks latitude "O". The yellow line in front of the monument divides the 2 hemispheres, you can stand with one foot in the Northern and one in the Southern Hemisphere. You can also buy a certificate to proof that you've been there. A shop will also stamp your passport for the cost... More

'Roof of the world' is a bit of an exaggeration, but being on the 7th floor of the hotel (a nice hotel), it does command impressive views towards the city centre to the south and the mountains and barrancas to the north. You can get to delight yourself with the valley and mountains while testing their marvelous buffet. Gotta write this in favor of what's been my sort of headquarters ever since I go to Quito for work. It's been like 10 years already and I keep choosing to come back.
