What a positive surprise: We really enjoyed the Atmosphere, the food and the service. Therefore we again visited this restaurant the second time we where in Quito (and will come back again for sure). Everything fresh, home-made and served with a smile - tasted delicious - that's exactly what we appreciate so much !

Wanted a vegetarian restaurant for daughter who had been putting up with non veggie restaurants and wanted something other than cheese. Great food and excellent service. Food is all cooked fresh and tasty, local beer and excellent desserts and coffee. Small art gallery dowmstairs with some very nice more offbeat ethic items. Also coffee shop on ground floor. Staff were... More

I brought a group of 10 people here for lunch one day. Setup the reservation well in advance and ordered family style. So here's the deal: 1. The food. So good. I had a group with a couple eaters with various restrictions that can make group dining family style a challenge. Not here, the food was good and it was... More

It was fun to eat local style food in this homey restaurant in Quito. They made vegan versions of many local specialties. It was fantastic, casual and friendly.

We had pasta, ceviche, vegie burger and salad - all of those positions were amazing. Portions perfect in size - amazingly tasty - service fast. Really nice chill out atmosphere. Will visit again for sure.

Nice and quiet atmosphere, really nice staf and great food. In my four years in Ecuador one of the tastiest meals I've aten. I specially like their offer of typical Ecuadorian dish in vegetarian version. A lot of vegan options too and tha Algaroba cake coudl have fooled me for a chocolate one

We are foodies looking for the best places in Quito, have heard about La Cuchara for quite some time and our expectations were remarkably well met! Original concept, delicious food, natural ingredients, cozy atmosphere and convenient prices. Don't forget visiting the shop! Can't miss the local souvenirs ;-)

We couldn't have found a better place to eat in Quito. We are vegetarians and the twist on Ecuadorian favorites was outstanding-carnivores would certainly enjoy the menu as well. The food was incredibly fresh, colorful and delicious. On top of that the setting at the end of Junin Street was lovely. We dined with our three children and had the... More

We visited La Cuchara de San Marcos as my wife is vegetarian. We were pleased to find this gem in Quito and visited twice during our stay. The food is lovely and freshly cooked. As a meat eater I really enjoyed the meals too. We tried some interesting (in a good way!) craft beers and different coffees. Would recommend!

Description
After four amazing years in the beautiful San Marcos neighborhood, we've moved! We are now centrally located in the Mariscal district--close to the Plaza Foch but still a bit away from the crowds and noise. Our new home is a two-story house that features our restaurant upstairs, and a cafe, gallery, and fair trade store downstairs. And shhh! We've also got a secret terrace! You can now make your own juice on our bicycle blender with views of Quito!

Our new menu has many of our classic vegetarian dishes, using organic local produce, along with our popular pastas and sandwiches. The downstairs cafe offers hand drip and Japanese siphon coffee, and a wide selection of herbal, fruit, and medicinal teas and infusions from across Ecuador.

We also continue to have Quito craft beer, and our own artisanal brews. They sell out quick, but a high octane Belgian Triple or Triple IPA from our 10 gallon is only ever a few days away. Look for us on Facebook where we announce what's ready.

And every Friday morning we open up the doors to our garage and feature some of the farmers from whom we source our produce and products. So come by and get your organic veggies straight from the source!

We are excited to be part of the bustling Mariscal district and will be extending our evening hours for summer!

Thank you for these amazing years of support and we look forward to seeing you in our new locale!

The La Cuchara family.
