Really bad service

Even the food is really good and tasty, the waiter assigned to our table (Manuel) was really rude and not nice at all, we almost had to beg to order our food and at the end he was only concerned about getting the bill paid. All the good experience you could have in this traditional German restaurant is ruined with this kind of deplorable customer service, what a shame really...

Busy with locals, always a good sign

We had lunch at this place which was excellent. Good value for money. We had the “Bremen” sandwich! They have a lot of choice. Good beer as well, and fresh orange juice. It can be busy at lunchtime because it is in the middle of the business district.

Lunch in Santiago

This is a great place for lunch or any time you are hungry. They have great local sandwiches and they are big. Our service was good we went a little before the lunch rush so I think that helped. The food was great and the service fine.

Watch the waiters

I've been twice to Elkika near Tobalaba Metro station. On both occasions I was burnt by the waiters. They seem to run a cartel and their attention is to say the least displicent. Be very careful when getting the check as on the first ocassion I was shortchanged and the second I was given a dud banknote. Be careful, very careful.

Food quality: poor; Service: miserable; Waiter tries to cheat you - Stay away!

I went there for lunch on a normal business day. Ordered "Bife a lo pobre" and a mug of beer. The waiter did not ask how I wanted my meat (bloody, well-done, etc.). The beer came fast and was ok (how could you possibly screw up a mug of beer?). When the food came, the meat was bloody. I sent it back because I wanted it well-done. Waitet for about 20 min., when the food came back the meat was well-done but turned out to be tough as a sole. The fries, eggs and onions had apparently been sitting there without re-heating and were cold. When I asked for the bill, the waiter inquired whether I wanted to include a tip. Said no, cause neither service nor food quality where to my liking. When he handed over the card reader, I noticed that he actually had added a 10% tip to the bill, despite me having explicitly said I would't give a tip. In other words: on top of the poor food quality and the miserable service (very long waiting times, cold side dishes), the waiter moreover tried to screw me over with the tip. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! There are better alternatives around Tobalaba.

The service, always the crappy service

It's been a long while since I last came here, I stoped coming due to a bad experience shot the service, and today was no different (not as bad as then, but still bad). It took a while for a waiter to come and take our order, the a lot of time to actually bring it to the table, And to add insult to injury, the food was cold. May be I should have ordered a dish instead of a sandwich, I remember those being better.

Great food,huge portions

We all enjoyed our meal at Elkika. The sandwiches were so big, we couldn't finish them, but they were wonderful and a good price. Nice servers, too. We hadn't planned on German food, but the place was packed with locals and a fun atmosphere.

Beers after work kind of place

A cheap pint in a nice environment. My boyfriend and I always try to sit on the terrace or catch a game inside. Their fanschops are good (Fanta mixed with beer) and very cheap. My boyfriend only ever gets the completo and says its average so it's more of a stop by for a beer place for us. Waiters are quick and attentive.

Is quality decreasing?

This use to be a nice place for a quick bite or a long full meal. It doesn't seem the same quality as before (and I have been visiting this place for over 35 years). There is a good beer selection and service is very good and friendly.

One of my favorite

I've visited this restaurant multiple times over the years. Their food has always been constant. This is not a fancy restaurant. This is "fast food" by Chilean Standards. Their portion sizes are very generous. My favorite being Churrrasco Italiano. This place gets packed during lunch hour during the week, but that shouldn't deter you from going. The prices are very reasonable and the service is great. Though, sometimes you might need to get you waiters attention on a busy lunch rush.

Great food, but the guy who counts the money shortchanged me. Beware. If they need to give you more than $5.000 in change and they give you $1.000 notes, count it in front of them. Lesson learned for me. Such a shame for a good restaurant.
