Loved the fresh and expertly cooked choices at this lunch buffet. As a pescavegetarian, I was a little worried about what I would eat, since I know they specialize in meats. But, all the sides were delicious, as was the fish. The fresh-baked bread was...particularly hearty, I think I had 3 pieces!More

We stumbled on this place as we drove to Puerto Octay. We saw several groups of people outside and we couldn’t tell if it was a private event but we were intrigued. On the way back to Puerto Varas, we see a sign that says...Rancho Espantapajaros (Scarecrow). We drove in and walked toward the building. Inside, it’s rustic and feels ranch-y. The man at the counter did not speak English so we somehow managed to ask if it was ok to have beers outside and he quickly draughted 2 cold ones for 3000 pesos. We walked out and there were several lively groups of people (after work get togethers??). There were benches and several tables and chairs on a massive lawn of green grass that sloped toward Lake Llanique with Volcano Osorno looming ahead. It was such a beautiful scene - llamas on an adjoining farm, jovial people, beer....we took a seat on a bench and spent the next 3 hours just hanging out. It was a magical setting. Just go.More

We chose to have the buffet for 18,000 pesos each (including beer and wine), and it was worth it! Good selection of meats; both from the spit and stewed, which fell apart as you ate. Also a wide selection of vegetables, salads and desserts. We...ate outside where we had a fantastic view of Osorno volcano! We recommend for lunch!More

We drove right past this place because the sign was was completely unintelligible to us. Also, we had come at an off hour or day, so there were very few cars there. We would probably not have gone in had we not had a specific...recommendation. Unfortunately for us we were not overly hungry when we arrived, but they were happy to let us wander the grounds and enjoy the fantastic view of Volcán Osorno for awhile to spur our appetites. The buffet looked fine, but we found that we could order “once” which is the Chilean version of a sort of high tea and which suited our appetites better. We ordered, on their recommendation, two portions for the three of us. Tea, or coffee, a plate of some cheese, excellent roast pork, avocado, tomatoes, breads— some excellent whole grain bread—butter, jam, and of course huge slices of kuchen and torta. All very good. And a glass of good house red wine. All while watching the Volcano glow pink in the sunset. It was amazing.More

A very nice location overlooking the lake and Volcano. If I was in the UK, I would call it a "themed " restaurant, huge beams, exposed wood everywhere, except here, it is the real deal. I really loved the ambience it created. Food is very...nice, locally sourced, plentiful, with a good mixture of salad and meats, so caters for all tastes. If I lived locally, I would be a very regular client indeed.More

Where do i start with describing how nice this place is? Let me start with the view you have - you can dine right in front of a stunning volcano (called Osorno) that´s right behind a big lake, and the ranch has some smaller animals...running around in the garden. They grow their own (organic!) crops, and you can totally taste that quality. Whether you´re coming by yourself or with the entire family, they´ll have all your preferences covered thanks to a big buffet you can choose from. The staff is super, super nice and I can just guarantee that you will love every bit of your stay, even though it´s located in a pretty rural area. Oh, and i almost forgot: Try their torta de manjar. Just do it - you can jog the extra mile later - but it´s going to be SO worth it!!More

This is an unpretentious restaurant, which offers an all-you-can-eat buffet with a few options of meats and salads. It is so good that it is always packed.
