The food looks great in pictures. Horrible in real life. Ambience and colours in the restaurant ate horrible. It's all this shade of horrible pink. I didn't feel like sitting there. Food was not great. The samosa chaat was full of chutney and yoghurt. I couldn't taste the samosa at all. The chola batura was quite tasteless And the vada... More

Bombay cafe has recently re-opened along Tanjong Katong road, now at the junction with Goodman Road. We were initially excited to see that it has returned to our neighbourhood. However, we had 3 rather disappointing meals at Bombay Cafe, for the following reasons: 1. The menu is now extremely scaled back - it no longer serves South Indian or Indo-Chinese... More

I have been to Bombay Cafe multiple times and have never been disappointed. The starters and the main course dishes are consistently great. Its very decently priced too. The Bollywood theme of the restaurant is a nice touch. Definitely try their starters sizzler platter if you are in a group of 4 or more.

I decided to go to this restaurant as the surrounded restaurants are crowded for a Saturday dinner. I must say the food items are little expensive when compared to the options available in the surroundings. However, it brought me a whole new experience as the menu has lot of options for visitors from all parts of the world. I chose... More

As compared to my last visit the quality of food has been dwindled. We had hot and sour soup which was very spicy and not tasty. Then we tried veg cutlet it was very average and was not cooked properly. We were bit satisfied with the Veg fried rice at last. The ambience was good but the service was bad.

They have a pretty extensive Indian menu covering chaats, sweets, gravies, and bread. The food's not anything to write home about. The naan is good, sizzlers unique and interesting, chaat very average, but the paneer often tastes like tofu and that messes up the taste of the food. The ambience and service are decent. Overall, it's not particularly great value... More

I visited Bombay Cafe in Tanjong Katong Road regularly before it closed down in mid-2013. There is still a branch of Bombay Cafe at 79 Syed Alwi Road. It's a vegetarian restaurant serving decent Indian vegetarian food with influences from North and South India. Some of the better items are the starters, including papri chaat, paneer tikka, and black pepper... More

Staying in Little India

Neighborhood Profile
Little India
With a strong local Indian community, this pocket of Singapore can feel like another place and time. Wander past traditional barbershops while local residents in brightly colored saris patronize retailers from decades past. Peruse streets lined with colorful shops as the aroma of curry tempts you to indulge. Listen to the Bollywood music echoing from storefronts and take in the stalls selling bright flowers, fabrics, and spices. At the 24-hour, four-level Mustafa Shopping Center, you can shop through the night and find everything from pharmacy and grocery items to Bollywood DVDs and diamond necklaces. Singapore’s Little India offers a colorful, lively taste of the subcontinent and is well worth the visit.
