This is another hidden away dining spot at ports down...opposite a nicer Italian restaurant pietrasanta... They have preserved the whole place and feel.. Nice selection of English beers and ales.. And those are probably the reasons to go back for...

~I've been eating the wet version of fried bee hoon at the Colbar since I first did my guard duty at Gloucester Camp, home of 3 Tpt Bn which is no longer standing at Portsdown Road, almost everyone made a beeline for take out in a 24 hour assignment ~life still stood still even after their relocation moving the entire... It's hard to com across such nostalgic place in singapore nowadays. The hainanese pork chop, curry chicken and fried bee hoon are all very tasty. I also like the beer selection here.

Classic clubhouse fare like fish & chips, fried rice, hainanese curry, fried potato chips is served in an old school atmosphere that harkens back to the 1950's. The place is not air conditioned which is perfect for the cool weather if you're lucky. Apparently, back in the day, Colbar even served food to a series of eminent local sports teams.... More

Colbar is an eating house that once served as a canteen for the British army barracks site in the 1900s. Colbar apparently stands for “colonial bar”. The original Colbar at Jalan Hang Jebat was described as a “glorified tin shed locked in a time warp”. Today situated in Wessex Estate, Colbar is a quiet and, some say, nostalgic hideaway, serving... We love this place and go back overtime we are lucky enough to be in Singapore. Our favourite is Chicken Curry with Rice. Original couple still running business. Location is in a quiet semi-wooded area of Singapore not too far from the city in a taxi. We took our nine year old and she was happy.

Visited with a friend for dinner. Many reviews raved about its pork chop and so we ordered tat and 2 other dishes to share, tomato omelette and pork cutlet. I would say the dishes are all cooked and presented very traditionally, but tasted mediocre. Pricing is not cheap for that kind of food and portion, some western stalls in coffeeshops... More

Great old rustic eating environment, natural ventilation with lush green around. High price of food though. $2 for one cup of local coffee and $7 or $8 for a plate of fried hor-fun/friend rice. Good to go when it is a day after rain.

I have been a regular at the Colbar for nearly 25 years both in its current location and more so in its previous spot down the road. The only thing that has changed is that with the new road layout its a bit harder to find for first time visitors. This is basic good, no great, scoff! Chips to die... More
