Hainanese Pork Chop, Chicken Curry in Rustic Ambience

This joint which is popular among Westerners, is typically frequented by people who drive here, as there is only one infrequent public bus here. "Colbar" is a portmanteau of "colonial bar". And it is, having been at the same, quiet Wessex Village since the British were here. It's not much, just a basically-furnished large hut circa 1950s. Drive here. There are few public busses - even so, expect a long walk from the bus stop. Prices rather steep (approx. S$15 for each main course)... More

So this is an old building no air-con and lots of garden so it has a lot of old world charm. It was very relaxing place to eat lunch and there was a nice lunch crowd there but still very relaxed. We ordered various curry dishes and that was great because the curry was very thick and a little sweet.... More

It is rare to find a place where once you walk into the premises, it is like walking into a time portal taking you back to the old days of Singapore. From the menus to the ambience to the food, it is like having a dinner in a time capsule. The food is not that fantastic. Ordered mushroom soup and... More

Eating here is like going back in time. Apparently the menu has not changed for many years. It is typical British transport cafe food with some Asian dishes. Food is good although not gourmet. We had a really enjoyable lunch here and loved the atmosphere here. I had bacon and eggs and my partner had chicken curry. Would recommend

I was pleased to discover that the Colbar was still going - I remember it from 20 years ago. I thought it would be demolished - it was, but stone by stone and rebuilt around the corner. The menu hasn't changed in 2o years, and I doubt the menu has changed in the last 50. British cafe food (egg, chips,... More

Visited a few times since moving into the neighbourhood and have enjoyed the meals and the ambience every time. The Hor fun is delicious, well worth the above average price. Pity there is no good coffee. Love the location, wonderfully green and terribly amusing if you happen to get trapped there in a thunderstorm. Walk around the black and white... More

There is something about this place that will just attract you back. The place is simple, noting fanciful, quiet but the food is just gorgeous. The Simple Curry rice, the breakfast set and the hor fun are just those type of food that you want to go back for more but problem is you want to eat all everytime you... More

Authentic taste with simple food display. The food brings back my childhood memories. A good place to catch up with friends and/or a simple family meal. A good spread of food to be served at Colbar. The Mrs at the counter, who took our order, she is friendly and thoughtful. 😊

Hidden away from the city center you will find Colbar eathouse where the absolutely serve the best Chicken Curry Rice! A must try. Apart from that they have an extensive menu with other great food to choose from though. They also have a lot of international beers ranging from local to Belgium and German beers and more.
