Most table will order the flaming chicken. The assam laksa and Penanf hawker fares are pretty good.
Be prepared to queue on weekends and festive occassions. Just as you may know, Singaporeans are bunch of foodies
If you miss Malaysia food and do not have time to cross over to eat, I would highly recommended to dine there,.It is probably the best I ate so far in Singapore. They are very popular with their Assam Laska, which you could see almost...there is this order for every table. Their gravy is reasonably thick, tasty and not so sour. They put lots of sardines but there is no fishy taste. Reasonably price at SGD4.00 for a small bowl and SGD5.80 for a big bowl (excluding 1% service charge and 7% GST). Other recommendations are fried bee hoon which was fried until so dry and a bit of burnt taste, the Hakka brewed duck, baby spinach soup. My Malaysian-born colleague said the food brought back her childhood memory and the food taste she has missed for 30 years.
We have been there twice only. We will definitely go back to try other dishes.More
You can easily spot this restaurant at night because of the queue of people in front. This just shows that the food here is truly authentic. Waiting time to get a seat is around 15-20 minutes so if you could get earlier(6-630pm) that would be...good.
I recommend curry fish head, salted egg squid and prawn paste chicken. These 3 dishes are always on our order list whenever we visit this place. I have tried other dishes here and we cannot fault it either. Prices are cheap considering the awesome taste of the food.
Only thing is that because of the volume of people, the restaurant is noisy and super busy. Also, after eating you may feel compelled to leave right away to give space to the others waiting.More
The food was the reason why this was not a 1 star.
In actual fact, the food is good. Really nice. But the service is so bad its like the restaurant only employs those who are constantly in bad mood.
Food is actually worth 4.5...stars. But the service, the attitude of the staffs leaves much to be desired. One of them actually scolded a man for talking too loud. Lol.
My advice is to do takeaway.More
Being a regular customer at this restaurant, their Penang Laksa, Fried Kay Tebow and Prawn Noodles is a must try! Their Lala Fujian Noodles is a huge portion. Other dishes in the menu are tasty and to me of good quality and taste. Good place...for couples, family and friends! They open till late. Great place for supper too!More
First time trying out this restaurant. Ordered 2 dishes first to try out the standards. Char Kway Teow was better than the Bee Hoon (can't remember what the name of the Bee Hoon was). Conclusion, still prefer to be eating Penang food in Penang.
Had a dinner with some friends and ordered dishes like tomyum prawns, lala hokkien prawn noodle, penang char kuey tiao, herbal chicken soup, pumpkin toufu, etc. Average taste with not much Penang flavors in it for the har kuey tiao. Damage was about $30 per...head with cold drinks.More
I personally have not been but I will be in about a months time, People we know in Singapore have been and love the place. The food is good quality and the price is very good . They had 1 Char Koau Teow / 1...Kangkong Cuttlefish / 1 Penang Laksa 1 Buah Dong Dong drink and 1 Chendol the total cost S$20.10 - that is what I call value for monyMore
