I had a business lunch on 14 Oct. Personally as a local I find the Peranakan food is only ok. there's not much wow factor. however food aside, this place is charging fine dining price but both food and services just doesn't matchup. I would...like to take this platform to provide feedback on the staff. I do not appreciate staff to be speaking to diner / customer in a entitled way. the situation at 2.30pm is that my business associate ( who is a foreigner living in Singapore for less than 1 year) saw the waiting staff handing us the bill. He asked a question politely, if we could continue the seat in the dinning area after the bill. the waiting staff gave a reason that we need to leave for the benefit of the staffs and some other reasons. Now we get it. But his tone is not welcoming at all. I hope Como as a company can train your staff to speak in a way that customer do not feel being "chase off" and consider we as customer is out to have a good time. every encounter leaves an experience to your diner. I feel so embrass & apologetic as a local to my business associate on the attitude of my fellow countryman. In fact I don't expect this from COMO. thanksMore

Took my wife for the 1st time to Candlenut. I have been to Candlenut before and like the last time, food was great, ambience warm and soothing while the service is excellent. My wife was not only happy with the food but she enjoyed the...various beverages that we ordered over lunch. Definitely something we will recommend our friends to experience.More

A lunch for a birthday occasion. Comfortable atmosphere with great staff. Service was on it’s A-game, attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. Portion sizes were for 2pax as explained by one of the servers. We ordered majority of the dishes my tops being the satay,...Blue swimmer crab and Buah Keluak ice cream (it really is a hit and miss for this one. I loved it) Did it meet up to my expectations for the price point, not so much however it was worth a shot!More

We had heard about about this place from our friend so we decided to check it out. I had made reservations for lunch, as booking for the dinner slot was a bit late for our liking. We were punctual and were quickly escorted to our...table (Initially I had booked alfresco but it was too hot to sit outdoor), so we were given a nice table (for 4, which was nice and spacious). We knew exactly what we wanted to eat as we had read about these dishes. We also ordered a pot of Kashmere, which was delicious. The food was well presented, portion size was adequate (for 2) and the flavours were phenomenal. Absolutely loved each and every dish. The crab curry was perhaps my favourite along with the candlenut rice, their signature dishes. The salad was also super fresh and I loved the scintillating citrusy flavours. We also ordered 2 more dishes which were equally delicious. The chocolate dessert was special due to its composition and the flavours along with the popping Candy that burst in the mouth. Overall a 10/10 experience. Service staff was friendly and attentive as well. We will surely be back ! Lots of cool sounding dishes to try next time we are here. Compliments to the chef !More

Had dinner at Candlenut with a friend. We ordered satay, the crab curry and chap chye. The satay really superb! Wish the portion was a little bit bigger. The crab curry very nice too, this is my first time order crab curry at peranakan restaurant....Chap chye is not really my favorite.. i feel it’s very small quantity for the price that we paid and not sure what, just feels very bland. Service very friendly and polite. I think it’s a place suitable to go to when you feel like having a very light dinner… will come again for the satay! :)More

We came here for a birthday celebration. The food was nice but what made our night was the warm and friendly service by Jerrybee. Thank you for the awesome service Jerrybee!

I do appreciate Peranakan cuisine, but can’t have if too often because I find it too heavy. So, I am quite choosy when it comes to restaurants. If I want traditional peranakan, I go to Violet Oon, especially the outlet at the National Gallery. But...if I want something lighter, more modern, but still containing all the flavours, then chef Malcolm Lee’s beautiful restaurant is definitely the place to visit. Excellent, knowledgeable service staff.More

Simply excellent food, for a fair price. A must try in Singapore, if you want to have one of the best experience with the local gastronomy.

Chanced upon CNA interview with Chef Malcolm Lee recently so we decided to have a birthday lunch @ Candlenut. We were impressed with the ambience, service and quality of the dishes. As expected, serving is quite small so we ordered 6 dishes. The 4 skewers...of satay kurobuta is an Indonesian dish, rather than Peranakan. So was the Mum's curry chicken which tasted more like Opor Ayam than the typical curry chicken. Nonetheless, they were both tasty. The wing bean salad has a nice crunch, topped with 4 slices of prawns and cashew nuts. The beef rendang was delicious and cooked to the right tenderness. The Assam fish was delicious too. It's good that the food has the right spicy level - not overwhelmingly spicy! Perfect for those unaccustomed to very spicy food. We noticed an unusual dessert on the menu - Buah Keluak ice cream so we ordered 1 to share. It was a creative blend of using buah keluak with dark Valhrona chocolate to make this unique dairy-free ice cream. The buah keluak is embedded at the bottom of the dome-shaped ice cream with a bit of salted caramel around the base. Interesting concoction, but pricey at $16. Total bill for 4 was $261.25. As we were celebrating a birthday, Candlenut presented a small slice of Kueh Salat for the birthday person. Nice appreciated gesture!More
