Good place for dinner, extensive menu choices, speciality is fish head curry. Service was a little slow, but it was peak hour. However, food was very tasty, recommended.

Popped in for just tea. Ordered masala tea. They served me some instant, 3-in-1 tea, the kind where you pour from a sachet and mix in hot water. Was such a disappointment.
Usual place for Fish Head curry. As not too spicy nor a typical curry. Nice mix for having a curry. Missed the pineapple in that curry, probably new chef in town.
Nice atmosphere and decent Indian cuisine. Staff are friendly and efficient service. Food is flavourful and portions are quite decent. Decent size for the price that you are paying. Recommend the butter chicken and naan along with a briyani.
Food was good as usual. Used to have pineapple slices in the fish head curry, is missing!!! That's what it makes the difference from the rest. Service was good! Unfortunately the table next to us were loud mouth and it has spoilt our lunch. At...the end, we packed our lunch and left.More
If asked for the best or nice Briyani, I wouldn't have come to Sakunthala for it cos I knew there are better out there. Since its' a request from mum-in-law who luvs to be served piping hot, then we had no choice. She and my...husband ordered biryani while my daughter ordered Naan with butter chicken. I only shared food with my husband, the Biryani & the Naan. Therefore we have extra gravy left & I don't like to waste food. I ordered 2 more naan to be taken away plus, asked them to pack the extra butter chicken for my takeaway. Unexpectedly, I was given a small plastic bag to pack the butter chicken MYSELF while the staffs are standing around not helping with the packing. I was like 'WHAT!' in my heart. I expected them to bring it to the kitchen and packed in a tupperware as I was in a prestigious restaurant where we paid for taxes. Doesn't want to embarrass the staff or my family (caused I will say what I think I should say), I just packed it myself while waiting for my naan to be prepared. Not recommending to anyone for dine-in as this is my second bad encounter at the same restaurant. The first encounter I do share it with the manager of the restaurant caused it really make me annoyed with the hygiene. (Only shared with other family members who were present there)More
Called for a delivery order at 11.04 am for Mothers Day. Someone took my number and promised to call back - did not even bother to ask for my name. One and a half hours later and nothing. No response at all from the restaurant....When I tried calling again (from 12.02 till 12.45, just hitting redial on my mobile) their line is ENGAGED (busy) for FORTY minutes. Is someone using the phone for a personal call?? One wonders. Absolutely unprofessional. Not the first time and very slow service. Even if you have allegedly good food but extremely poor service, this does not make for a good reputation or professional image. If unable to handle deliveries, say so. If too busy to allow for orders to be made over the phone, say so. Dont leave customers hanging with no response. Shame on you for being greedy and misleading. Be professional and gracious. This is not the first time. Please improve on your processes and train your staff to respond better to ALL customers, not just those in store. This is NOT the way to manage a business. Customers WILL catch on to your slipping standards and will not stand for being treated this way. There are many other restaurants littered along Serangoon Road that serve same if not better fare - be more mindful of your conduct and service from your staff. Word of mouth travels fast and cannot be undone.More
I tried once and was hooked to it. for those who dont want something spicy u can try the briyani. mysore mutton briyani. love d gulab jamun too
Sakunthala's has a number of outlets, but the one I prefer to dine is at Race Course Road. Its convenient & the interior is clean & decorated quite well. The mutton biryani is flavourful. My personal best is their pepper mutton...you combine it with their...thosai....its yummy. Try it!More
It could be a quick meet up, get together with family or friends, Sakunthala’s is an ideal restaurant. Don’t be harsh on yourself by giving it a miss. Recommended Food: Mysore Mutton, Pepper Mutton, Dum Biryani Meals (South Indian meals with Dum Biryani rice), Fish...Head Curry, Chicken Tikka.More
This is not better than any Chettinad restaurant in Little India. Fish biryani came COLD! It returned with a fried fish in some masala and buried in biryani rice! Fish was still cold. Unbelievable. So poor for an Indian restaurant.
I ordered 7 fish head for my company function. Looked up on Sakunthalas at Syed Alwi 62936649 which say 1 min from mustafa shopping centre. When I said pick at Syed Alwi at 3pm sharp the heads was not ready. The number was from Race...Course Road n pick up was from there. Cut short on my experience... food was great but managed poorly and misleadingMore
Good all-round meal here. Served and food came out promptly. Had garlic naan, butter chicken, tandoori chicken & paper dosai. Free popadums I nice touch too. With two soft drinks came to $42, good value.
Dined solo on 9 Sept midnight to 10 Sept morning It was open and pumping Food was nice and tasty Servers were looking superb tired and unhappy Place is messy and dirty However food rocked !
The best Indian food I ever had. The taste, price, service and ambience, all are great. Must try their dosas, Idiappam and kurma and their special fish head curry.
