Rather on the expensive side but well worth the price given the excellent food quality, nice setting and good service. We can recommend crabs and lobsters, also prawns and Gurami fish. We found the service is courteous and people are nice.

Visited Layar Seafood in Jakarta with my friends (3 of us in total) and the food was delicious. We ordered the crab and my personal favourite is the cream cheese sauce that came with a fried bun. We ordered the fish which was fresh and chose garlic sauce which was tasty. There were live seafood tanks right beside the restaurant which can be a place to bring your kids to view. Overall a great place to come for food when in Jakarta.
A special shout to the layar special fried rice. It was absolutely delicious.

Not really ‘very good’ but better than ‘average’. No real ambience but good efficient service and obviously fresh fish and seafood from the tanks next door. Food tasted fine but the restaurant has more the feel of a canteen.

Layar Seafood is always become must visit resto when I have trip to Surabaya.
Very glad when knew that they have opening branch at Jakarta where I can bring my family to enjoy their favorite Chili crab or Onion Crab.
Their barbeque fish and prawn also very good and for seafood lover in Jakarta, here should be another favorite resto for lunch or dinner.👍👍

We really enjoyed the chili crab, “Taliwang” grilled squid, chili prawns, and some garlic “pucuk labu” veggies. It’s really a good dinner experience. Need to wait for about 15 minutes because we arrived at the dinner time. No reservation accepted. Busy place but good and prompt service. A recommended place for seafood lovers.

On a Monday evening this restaurant is still quite popular. Many seafood was out of stock such as eel, nila, squid with eggs but the food cooked is still delicious and appetising. We ordered steam prawns, sting ray bbq with taliwang, krapu steam with Bangkok sauce, calamari with honey, fish skin with salted eggs, 3 different veggies! No crabs this time because too time consuming. The dishes were fresh and made a good impression to my guests. Environment looks tidy but there were houseflies flying around. One drawback is the sauce section. The choice is no longer as extensive. Beer was served cold. The servers were helpful although slow in reaction!

My second time to this place . We had mix grilled seafood , daun papaya and steamed rice . So tasty, perfect to our taste . The vegetables ( papaya leaves ) were so yummeh . Good service , clean restaurant and pocket friendly . Will come again when we are in this area

Went with colleague and customer to this restaurant during lunch time, no waiting but the crab is super good.
The octopus fried is also very good, also the sauces octopus is super good.

First time I was there for dinner. When you see lots of locals having their meals with their family members young and old - you know it’s the right place for me.
There were 5 adults all very hungry. We ordered the pepper crab if I am correct it’s manado sauce. Steamed fish which was so fresh served with burner ,two different types of veggies, petai ( love hate taste ) fried cuttlefish and all served with four types of sauces .
Lovely ambience and you can choose different types of Indonesian crackers to munch while waiting for your food. They will include in your bill later.
Next trip sure to be back again!!!

I knew Layar when I Saw the restaurant each time I drove on the street where it located and mostly its crowded. In curiosity, then I decided to try it with whole family.
I made a reservation on Sunday night and had confirmation on 8 pm. We went to the place and arrived at 7.30 pm. It was crowded and had to use valley for parking my car. I went to the reservation officer and she asked to wait. After 40 min, we got the table ready and start to order the foods.
We ordered, crabs with 3 different seasoning, 2 type of fish meals, 2 different shrimps meals, small dishes, various of drinks, and many others. All is delicious and well cooked. The whole family are really enjoy the dinners, eventhou the place is crowded and have to wait before serve.
The price it self is medium to high... But its value compare to the taste of the meals. I surely will be back to the place again.
Tips: made the reservation much earlier will reduce waiting time. Start order when table is confirmed. Don't bring car, better use cabs or online transportation. When finished don't stay to long on the table, the queue is waiting...

This restaurant seemed quite popular among locals. Place is convenient, cozy seating. Valet parking available. Staff were friendly but somewhat mechanical, no smiles except one who saw us off at the entrance door. Name of restaurant: “Layar”, meaning “Sail”, seemed to get stuck in dead wind or didn’t unfurl the sail early, as service was slow. It took almost 30 minutes before we got our dishes. Food quality was good but tasted average.
