It was my first visit to Orient8, and it was for couple dinner on Valentine's Day. Strange, the other high-rated and/or famous places were fully booked. The venue was nicely decorated although it was towards the obnoxious side of style. I feel there was an...overall disconnection since the staffs wore vest with Napoleon face (printed at the back). I always look at the menu first before make a booking because MB can't eat meat. Therefore, I had to make sure Orient8 has seafood menu and according to the website, it does. Shockingly, Orient8 only offered Saint Valentine menu and buffet on that day, so either you go for the IDR888k++/pax menu or the buffet. This was not mentioned anywhere when I made the booking; therefore, it was disappointing. The staff said the meat could be replaced by seafood but he didn't even seem sure, and the usual menu wasn't available on that day. We also didn't want to get buffet since the dinner was for a quality time together. After about 20 minutes they finally came up with solution and gave us their usual menu. We ordered a bottle of house red wine, two appetisers (smoked salmon and grilled octopus), escargot, and two mains (seafood bouillabaisse for him and duck confit for me). In general, the food was delicious. The grilled octopus was the star of the night while the delicious duck confit wasn't melted in your mouth as the way it should be cooked. In general price looked within the range. However, the "forced" Saint Valentine's menu was a rip-off.More
