Based on reviews, I decided I would take dinner here one of the nights that I spent in Lhasa. My guide encouraged me to try other restaurants. The next day, I had to admit to him that he was correct. Lhasa Kitchen has about the same choices as most other local restaurants, prices may be a bit higher, service was... More

I wouldn't actually recommend this restaurant, there are much better options in Lhasa. We ordered a chicken masala which was very good but the dal was very watery and the palak dish we had was definitely not spinach. The restaurant doesn't look very inviting unlike other places we ate.

Lhasa Kitchen is probably the best restaurant in Lhasa for Westerners because it not only serves Tibetan dishes (YAK meat) but it also serves Western and Indian dishes. After our tour of the Jokhang Temple that is located across a square from the restaurant, we decided to have lunch here at the Lhasa Kitchen. We had decided to have some... More

One of the few restaurants open in Lhasa as it was Chinese New Year. The food was very good but the service was a little haphazard - different dishes arriving at different times for each person. Ambience was rather dark and dull but several locals were eating there.

Reasonable prices, easy to find, liked the food. My travel agency guide recommended this restaurant, the New Mandala, and the Snowland Restaurant, and I tried them all out. I ate here three times, and rate it above Snowland. Favourite dish was the vege momos. The staff recommended a split serving (half vege / half potato) and I slightly favoured the... More

Although this place was very crowded, we did not have a good experience here. The service was very poor (not friendly, not responsive to any requests and questions). It was also not very clean (they did not bother to wipe down the table and placemats in between customers and in general the restaurant was dirty). The food was not good.... More

Went there for lunch our 1st day. Spent almost a week before figuring out that finding a place w/ comparable Indo-Nepali food in town was an exercize in utter futility. Possibly the best Indian-style food I've ever had. Located in an unprepossessing location, w/ somewhat lacadaisical service, this is the best meal we enjoyed in the Jokangh-Barkhor area. PS. Lhasa... Ate here a couple times, once as part of a group and the other by ourselves. Great variety of dishes and all the food was well cooked. The portions are large and the prices are very reasonable. The staff are friendly and obliging. Nice location with a nice view. Beers and other drinks were always cold which was much appreciated.
