The whole pecking duck for 375hkd was bland and has very thick meat that comes along with the crispy skin. After serving our orders, the servers ate right beside our table. It felt as if the restaurant "used to be" good but in time they just slowly lost their magic.

Meeting we friends. The food was very good and nothing to do with an American restaurant but rather beijing food. The service is rather brutal and the space is quiet loud.

Went for a late lunch expecting to enjoy traditional Peking Duck--thin slices of duck with crispy skin and wrapping it with cucumber and sauce to excite my palette--to my surprise we got thick cuts of duck with a very slight crisp skin, no wrap and a few chunks of cucumber on the side--quite disappointing. If you want traditional Peking Duck... More

This restaurant was recommend by the hotel for Peking Duck. What a disappointment, the duck that was served to us was basically skin, the meat was left in the bones. We were presented with a plate full of duck skin. Also, there is no service or ambiance. Waiters hardly acknowledge us. I would not recommend or go back to this... More

Ironically, the American restaurant was the most indigenously Chinese restaurant we dined at in Hong Kong. There was not one English speaker in the place! We got here by accident after being chased away unceremoniously from the Liu Yuan Pavillion down the street. The Liu Yuan Pavillion didn't like our looks, the way we dressed, or maybe my breath, but... More

A surprisingly good Peking duck restaurant in Wan Chai. We were wanting Peking duck but didn't want to travel to Spring Deer in TST. This was not the best but not the worst. The duck was very good and the rest of the meal also. We will come back when we get the urge again.

We were invited to this restaurant by business contacts and were not sure what to expect. It is actually a long established Peking Chinese restaurant but has a menu that the more timid westerners can easily relate to. Food is great, prices are very good for HK. We dined there twice and will certainly go again. If you make a... More

The American Restaurant is one of Hong Kong's institutions which has not spent much on its decor in many years but don't let this put you off. This is an excellent restaurant which serves Chinese food which westerners love. I can highly recommend the Sizzling Prawns, Chili sizzling Beef, dry salted calamari etc etc. Great value and always humming with... More

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centers of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
