I noticed in Hong Kong everyone is always in a rush. TIME IS GOLD as I always hear from Hongkongers. It's so true!! If confirmation cannot be provided right away, options are readily available. The Amber staff are indeed amazing, they maybe on the other line when you dial their main switchboard but immediately after hanging-up, you get a return... More

Amber is one of my favourite all-time restaurants for that special occasion. It isn't for nothing that they have two Michelin stars. The food is exquisite, presentation first-class and great unobstrusive service. Mouth watering starters to tickle all the senses, before we tuck into the tasting menu. The amount of food was just enough without us feeling we had overeat.... More

My wife and I have the good fortune to try several starred restaurants and, being in Hong Kong for a week of vacation, we wanted to try the Amber restaurant (2 Michelin stars). Service is very formal and somewhat detached, the quality of the food is very high level even if not all the dishes were memorable, the wine list... More

Amber is a truly wonderful restaurant. possibly one of the best meal I have ever had. Dishes that all have a modern twist with great combining quality products and creativity presentation. Great food, fantastic ambiance and attentive service. Highly recommended for special occasions. Would definitely be back again when we visit Hong Kong.

This was truly a memorable meal. It starts with staff who are knowledgeable, polite and attention but not intrusive. The service is relaxed and paced and we were surprised how quickly the night went.We choose the degustation menu and this was remarkable and well worth the cost. Each dish was a visual treat and a taste sensation. The degustation also... More

The booking arrangements for meals on public holidays are irritating, but everything else about our visit was outstanding. We had the 6 course weekend lunch with 4 matching wines. The non alcoholic options were also worthwhile. Service was exemplary throughout. We went for a celebration and so found every course plus the extras perfect taste experiences.

My 100 Michelin star was celebrated at Amber and OMG what an experience. Nice dining room, friendly staff that acts swiftly and very responsive. Perfection in preparation, tastes and plating and the scallop dish would be on my "hall of fame" list. What I especially like with Amber is that this is not "european fine dining in Asia", this is... Amber offers one of the more expensive tasting menus I've come across in the landscape of top global restaurants. However, the price tag is worth the experience. For starters, the service is impeccable. Not only is the staff friendly, their attention to detail, guidance on menu, and timeliness is incredible. Whenever visiting restaurants of this caliber, I always recommend the... More

Every dish of the degustation menu was perfectly executed to highlight the natural goodness of the ingredients. Servers were knowledgeable and attentive too.

Staying in Central

Neighborhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
