Tokio Joe’s simple décor and friendly staff provide a relaxed and casual alternative to formal Japanese dining. Interior space is highlighted by wooden paper screens, natural wood and open sushi bar giving an airy feel. The ‘user friendly’ menu features traditional favourites and innovative creations with anemphasis on fresh sushi and sashimi. A must try are Joe’s Soft Shell Crab Rolls and deliciously fresh Spicy Toro Tartar.

We go here when we want a delicious, fun dinner. It's always busy and the food is really good. Highly recommend it.

Enjoyed the set lunch at Tokio Joe. The delux lunch was very generous with sushi, sashimi, tempura, miso, etc. Service was great, despite them being busy. Highly recommended.

Tokio Joe offers great Japanese food in a casual environment. The service is good and the menu is authentic. There are better Japanese places in Hk but in this price range this is a great venue. Can get loud on a Friday night, which adds to the theme.

Four of us ate her and had a few starters and then one of their lunch boxes each. The quality of the food was very good. They also had a few dishes on the menu that I haven't had at other Japanese restaurants. The service was excellent and the staff very friendly. Will go again.

We arrived late for our booking but the wait staff were very friendly and helpful. Seating wise, it is very typical HK style where you can hear the entire conversation of your neighbours. Food and drinks came quickly and the spicy seafood udon was very tasty. As was the pork katsu don. One thing that did stand out was when... More

The best Japanese food in the world. Even the Tomato served in the beginning as the Amuse bouche will blow you away! The Tuna Tartar is again the BEST in the world- must order. Tuna Carpaccio too! Warm Prawn tempura Sushi too! Everything was great! The chef is commendable having run this place for so many years, with the same... More

Tokio Joe is a lively and well-run place in the energetic jumble of Lan Kwai Fan. The food is excellent, especially the sushi. However, it is expensive....not quite like the prices of sushi in Tokyo, but high. We were also impressed by the attentive and polite service. However the place filled up, it became so loud it was difficult to... More

Staying in Central

Neighborhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
