The Best Little Old Hong Kong Dining Place in Central

We dropped by this 125 years old restaurant around 8pm on Christmas eve and ordered a bowl of winter time favorite snake soup/broth and a double-boiled soup of papaya and pork shank in Chinese northern almond nuts. The snake meat broth served in a medium size bowl was yummy good...cooked in special... read more

We had a look at this restaurant front and noticed a sign mentioning it had one star at the Michelin guide. I ordered goose and steamed rice. The goose was the best I've ever tasted. The waiter suggested we tried their speciality:Snake...I'll have to come back for that one...Value for money is good.I do recommend this restaurant. It seems to me to be... Gotta try their speciality snake broth. Quite an experience! Tastes like chicken! Will be a good check off your bucket list for those who are more adventurous with food. They do it really well!

We stumbled over this place by chance. Looked bright and clean and was filled with locals. The food was great but the waiters were very unsmiling. None the less we ate well and I would recommend the restaurant to others.

We came across the place by accident. Great HK diner atmosphere, limited menu but good Cantonese cuisine. Not the place for an intimate romantic meal, but if you want tasty, good quality and good sized portions served in typical HK in-your-face fashion, it is hard to beat.

One of Hong Kong's better known snake soup restaurants, its signature dish is truly delicious, probably the best of its kind in Hong Kong. We went there for lunch recently. The weather still not cool enough for the snake soup, we ordered water snake congee instead, with preserved liver sausage, white chicken, Singaporean fried rice noodles, and sweet green bean... This was one of the worst dining experiences of my life! We came for the snake soup and ended up with this porridge like crap in a bowl with absolutely zero flavour. Apparently asking for snake soup but pointing to the wrong one results in getting that instead of the waitor just confirming what you want. We also had sausage... More

Was brought for dinner by local colleagues one evening. Had the goose. Snake soup. Sweet sauce Fish slices. Clay pot sausage rice. Food is authentic and local and delicious! I came back the following night to get goose rice and a soup. Superb! Well worth the effort if you are around central and looking for a good local eatery!

The food was tasty (inclusive snake) and the atmosphere very nice, authentic and different from my home in Denmark. Fair prices. However, caused by excessive air conditioner an icy polar wind was blowing. Menu cards were very greasy.

It is a simple Chinese restaurant featuring snakes and Cantonese food. The snakes dishes are very nice. The food quality is good. However, the price is not cheap. If you are in Central, it is good to have meals there.

Staying in Central

Neighborhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
