I'll be honest, the food is tasky but every time I come here my experience is so terrible that I've had it. Their service has much to be desired. The waitresses boss you around while ordering, they try to take away your plate even before you are done (they did that twice!), they are loud, disrespectful, and even while paying... More

I randomly found this place on the way to the Ladies Market. The staff were friendly and service was very efficient. I ordered my first Vietnamese curry, it was tasty but a little to mild for my liking. I know traditionally they're made that way but next time I'll stick the Pho.

Walking along one of the side streets, we saw the sign for Vietnamese cuisine and thought we'd try it out. Mistake. We looked at the menu and walked up the stairs to find an empty'ish restaurant. We thought it might just be the timing as we're a bit early. Good parts: - Staff are polite and friendly. - Restaurant looks... More

Food is VIetnamese like. Noodles are thicker, heavier from being soaked. Prices are not friendly as they charge main course prices for sides served.

We visited the restaurant in Kowloon/Ming Kok - staff were friendly, efficient and spoke good English but the food was just average for the price. We had three appetisers, rice and two non alcoholic drinks and it ended up costing HKD $446. Perhaps we expect too much but it seemed quite expensive. We had the crab rice rolls, garlic mussels,... Not very nice looking place but we saw they had vegetarian options so we decided to try: great, fresh tasting food, nice spices, fast service. They could be more friendly but if the food is this nice we do not care.

No one else in there when we arrived so we're a bit dubious but the menu looked tasty so gave it a go. We had the set menu for 2 between 2 adults and 1 child with some extra spring rolls. The service was attentive but not overwhelming and the food was delicious. Highly recommend it and people started to... More

"Ordinary" can mean many things, not necessarily bad. That's true here, but nothing special either. A group of us have occasional dinners and we like to try new places. For Central District, La Taste is well-located and reasonably priced. The food was OK. Due to our group's size, we ordered a good variety of starters and mains. The beef tendon... More

Staying in Central

Neighborhood Profile
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
