Depending on the time you may wait in line, and will probably share your cramped table with others. But this is kind of normal in HK Central, and people generally stay out of each other's way. We tried a few well-known places and the goose here was the best. I recommend the goose breast for Western palates - it's as dark but juicier and more flavorful than turkey thigh. The goose hindquarter is for more adventurous eaters. Go early in the day as they often run out.

Good thing about this little resto , it opens early at 10am , food was delicious , we ordered roast goose , roast pork and char siu pork.. we dont mind the tiny space since the food is delicious. Menus are in english . Better come early rather than lunchtime , cause the seating area is very limited .

I was expecting really good roast goose at Yak Lok from all the reviews I read, but I thought it didn't live up to the hype. I liked the crispy skin, but it ends there. The flavor was only ok, and the breast meat was dry. The dark meat was better. The roast pork was average. The roast pig was very good with a great crunchy skin and minimal fat. Prices were high for this kind of fare. I'll go elsewhere for roast goose.

The leg of goose I had here was quite nice and the decor and atmosphere make it exactly the kind of place I would have been thrilled to try upon first moving to Hong Kong but now, having had lots of Cantonese BBQ elsewhere, it’s clear that this place has a few problems. Firstly, no vegetables with the meat and rice? At all? $29 extra seemed a bit cheeky. Secondly, I was charged for a pack of tissues to wipe my hands, which I have never had happen to me anywhere else, ever. Thirdly, there are much MUCH better places (the pork here didn’t taste that great at all) doing similar food relatively nearby for close to half the price. Overall, this place was a bit of a let down I am sorry to say.

I went to this restaurant during my visit to Hongkong. On the first day I been there and they ran out of BBQ pork and Crispy pork so I went back the next day and that's how the horror started. We were put on a table which we sat side by side, that's fine, typical HK restaurant style but the dirty table clothes on the table were just a palm away on the same table, disgusting. We were a group of 2 so we I would like to order a plate combo of roast pork & goose and 2 bbq pork with rice. The lady waitress said no we had to order a plate of quarter with drumstick and then 2 plates of bbq pork and crispy pork with rice. And then when we said No. She then said no no no and complained in her chinese language. I was like why???? You had all the item and even on the menu why could not I order and why in the world she forced us to order the one with drumstick ?? because it's never gonna sell and more expensive ??? and I did not want to eat the crispy pork and on top of everything it's my money and if you had all the items on the menu then should not you sell it just the way it was?Why trying to cheat on us??? We ended up order just 2 plates of bbq pork with rice no goose and no crispy pork. She seemed disappointed and at that time I didnt want to argue with her anymore. To whoever considering eating here, the taste was typical HK style but the service was by far THE WORST restaurant I have ever experienced since I started visiting Hong Kong for decades. Hygiene was probably something they did not know they should had it as a restaurant. Please go and eat some where else. Ki roast goose and Kam's roast they were super friendly and the food taste wonderful and the atmosphere and the cleanliness were much better than this dirty mess hall. And to Michelin, please delist this restaurant they cheated on customers !

Excellent roast goose restaurant in SoHo. You come here for the food, not the ambience or the service. Compared to Kam´s in Causeway Bay the goose tasted slightly better at Yat Lok (less greasy, more crispy).

After reading couples of recently negative reviews, we hesitated to visit this restaurant, but then decided to give it a try. Surprisingly, even it was crowded at 7.45pm when we got there, we could find the seats easily by the friendly support of the staff. Services were nice and quick. Staff could speak a basic English but that was not a problem. Price was bit high, however, the roasted goose was amazing and worth every single penny. If you are looking for a Michelin-awarded restaurant serving local dishes, we would recommend this one, but do bear in mind that they would not offer private seats or private waiters to pour the water for you.

We queued before 10am when the restaurant opened its doors. The waiting was not too long. The dining experience and food were bad. Why? We ordered items from
the menu: “B5 BBQ pork, chicken leg and noodles in soup $115”. We were given rice, not noodles in soup. We pointed out the wrong order but the staff said as she’s already delivered it, she cannot change it! We also ordered item “C6 Crisp pork & soya sauce chicken in dry noodles $89”. The noodles were half cooked and salty to the extreme. Others who had also ordered noodles left the noodles uneaten due to the high salt content. We also ordered goose leg and rice but the goose was dry and tasteless. We will not eat at Yat Lok again. We will return to eat at Kam’s Roast Goose where the goose is succulent and tasty and their century eggs with ginger are famous for their excellence.

We went to Yat Lok and were seated and when we tried to order dried noodles with goose, the arrogant staff said it wasn’t available when others you could see had it ordered. With our other order of rice and goose and bbq pork was just mediocre like off cuts of meat and just bones and small amounts of rice. It looked like they wanted us to buy their more expensive dish of half goose as that what she pointed at another table who had it. The rude and loud staff were so appalling it was like a nightmare to even dine at this fake establishment and should never be awarded a Michelin at all. It is a Michelin award of rude staff and only wanted to shift the customers out so that new customers can come in. We had not even finished our dishes and they tried to take it away, we had to tell them not to not take it away as it wasn’t finished. My soup was not finished as I wanted to try another dish by holding it down with my hand as it was obvious what the staff rude strategy was to do. They just take it without even asking in the first place.
Having read the many other reviews of this fake establishment, it shows that this is not a one off, it has regularly happened many times of years. It shows how the filth of their service is giving customers the bad end of the stick.
The place is not as good as it is made out as there are many other Roast Goose places in Hong Kong and tastes way better like Ki’s Roast Goose located in Causeway Bay with much better and calm customer service, with plum sauce on the table which is unusual with other restaurants. Save your money and spare the rudeness of these old generation staff and try other places in HK who offer way better food and service. Don’t even use the toilet, its the old style hole in the ground, not surprised.

We came for the food and was quickly seated with only a few minutes wait. The restaurant was quite busy so we had to share a table with another couple as it was a common practice.
A friend gave us tips on how to order so we got a small plate of char siu and the left quarter leg of the goose (supposedly the best part) with a small plate of rice. The server took our order without much comments and it was quickly delivered. Helped to plan ahead.
The char siu was slightly fatty but was tender and tasty. The goose was perfect with nice crispy skin, tender and flavorful meat and plentiful.
A little on the pricey side for lunch (HKD $110 for small char siu and $198 for leg quarter goose) but checked off our box for goose in HK since it’s not that common back home.

We had come to taste this famous Michelin-rated restaurant. The food is very good, but the welcome leaves a lot to be desired.
This restaurant is a real tourist factory, in terms of queue management, arrival at the table and order taking. We're made to understand that we're just walking banknotes.
I'm not criticising their success, but I find it hard to understand why they're so keen to make a profit when their restaurant is constantly full. It's on the verge of indecency.
I didn't appreciate being forced to eat as quickly as the 2 successive couples in front of us, when we had ordered more than them combined.
Not to mention that you have to pay for your napkins 🤣 and add $30 to pay by card.
=》 A real incomprehensible racket when their turnover must be gigantic.
I only advise to come and eat on the go with enough cash and taste the smallest portion of goose.
My advice to the owner: be less greedy and stingy. You earn enough money 🤣

Still the best Roast Goose. And not available jn Singapore.
At Yat Lok Roast Goose 一乐烧鹅,their meat is still the most tender and tasty, while the skin remains crispy. Their gravy is awesome, and goes well with rice.
The last time I ate here was in 2019, before COVID struck, but the owners, staff and quality of food remain.
With lesser crowds, we could get seats almost immediately and did not have to squeeze into a corner.
At Central MTR, exit D2, cross the road then walk along Stanley Road.

If i could give this 0 stars I would. Not sure how this is on the Michelin Guide. Okay so, me and my wife saw some bad reviews, although thought we would still try it since its on the Michelin guide, but in my opinion it does not deserve to be on it. Ordered the roast goose with bbq pork and roast goose with roast pork as well. To begin with the roast pork was good (and hot) but the goose was just skin and bones and it was as if we got all the left over bits as locals across from us had very meaty bits. We were still hungry and thought we would order more roast pork as it wasn’t too bad. When the small plate of roast pork arrived, it was cold and looked very dry. My wife who speaks cantonese asked them to change it for a new plate as it was cold. The first worker acknowledged her but did not do anything about it. My wife had to ask her three times before the worker said “Don’t ask me.” My wife then asked the male worker who brought it out, to which he said “It is meant to be cold.” The male worker and another female worker who walked over began to argue saying “You are wrong, it is always cold.” My wife said “No its not, because it was hot on our plate before, and this is the first time I have had roast pork” to which the male worker said before “No you didn’t, you had just the goose.” They continued to try bully my wife until she could not be bothered to continue arguing. I am appauled with the level of service at the end and no workers should be treating their customers like that regardless of what they think is right, especially a place that is on the Michelin guide. If reviewers are wanting great roast goose, go to “Yung’s Roast Goose Restaurant” in Yau Ma Tei, as their quality of food and service was great. For the same price we also got much more food. Sorry for the essay but I cannot accept this service, hope this helps people decide where to go.

Food was just alright.
Service horrible, rude and kept pushing you to get the more expensive stuffs.
We repeatedly told them we wanted the combination noodles of chicken and roasted pork for HKD 72 (on their menu), but they kept pushing the larger individual servings of chickens and separate servings of roasted pork (which we told them to be wrong order delivered and we sent it back to them TWICE).
Eventually they delivered what they claimed and appears to be a combination plate, at the third time of delivery (after we told them twice earlier and rejected them twice earlier that they delivered a larger than ordered portion food).
At bill settlement they insisted that they delivered a larger portion of food which we did not order and have repeatedly sent it back to them twice. Long story short - they were only focused on upselling, and shafting you larger value orders regardless of what u ordered.
At the end of it all, it truly showed you what this shop only wants to do. To make as much money as possible, at the expense of sending and delivering food orders to unsuspecting clients - and then try to make them pay for it.
Beware of this place.

Since in Hong Kong I have had my fill of roast goose (once I am back stateside this will be a luxury I can't afford). I thought Kams was the best with its greasy deliciousness (although pricey) but I think I much prefer Yat Lok. It isn't just because my lunch was cheaper than Kams but the goose here was tender and flavorful. Compared to Kams fancier ambiance, I preferred the lack of fan fare, and to the point vibes. I honestly love wait staff in hong kong. They are not here to kiss up. They are matter of fact and to the point.

Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
