Upon arrival i showed my reservation to the lady at the bar who very impolitely said 'we don't have this kind of reservation here' in an extremely irritated voice and a frowning face. This is actually our bad as my mate sent me the wrong...reservation QR code and i didnt realise that. So i just said aloud the name and time of reservation so she could look it up their list but again she very impolitely said 'no, we only have one reservation at 7.15pm'. Mind you, all of the tables in the whole restaurant is empty and there's only crowds outside the resto for happy hour drinks, so the resto is definitely not short of tables and i dont see why they can't just give us a seat as walk-in guests. At this point a senior staff offered to give me a table (finally, thank you) and the menus to read through while waiting for my mates. I was gonna order a drink to start off with but the waiter never attended to me. He literally passed in front of me a dozen times in which of the FOUR times i had to call out to him but was unheeded. At last i had to walk out of my seat into the passageway and stand in front of him to catch his attention. And that's when my patience maxed out. I left the restaurant without ordering anything and i believe it's the right decision. That is the poorest service i have ever experienced. I would not return and would not recommend this place to anyone. The neighbourhood is full of other dining options and our party promptly found another place to chill for the night.More

I went for a lunch event organized by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and The Spanish Speaking Women's Association and was very impressed by the place's authenticity and the amazing food and service, the tapas were great, very tasty, well presented and plenty of choice....The service was supper fast and attentive I loved the free flow and the quality of the wines, it was great value for money. Most of the attendants were from Spain and all of them complimented the food's authenticity. We had a great time, many thanks Plaza Mayor for a great time.More

Plaza Mayor has moved one street over to Sun street now and I'm writing this review after at least half a dozen visits. Its still the same vibe, kind and generous owner and staff. The tapas are great because they're more like what you find...in Spain, the classics. I love the more elaborate Spanish Tapas too but sometimes you just feel like something classic and simple. Plaza Mayor hits the spot. Whats better is you can almost forget you're in Hong Kong, not necessarily because of the decor but because of the service style, menu, and general casual feeling. I wish there were more unpretentious restaurants like this one. Plaza Mayor might be the only real feeling European restaurant in HK. I miss it already.More

I love the tomato bread, the ham, the manchego cheese and the wine. That’s was just for tapas and then the black rice, a seafood paella with garlic mahones.

Having recently relocated from Moon Street to the adjacent Sun Street, the "new" Plaza Mayor is smaller than its predecessor. But rather than detract from the new restaurant's appeal, the smaller environment has arguably enhanced it, creating a cosy and vibrant atmosphere. On the evening...that we went, the restaurant kept the doors facing Sun Street opened, which is a nice touch, and despite the warm weather outside, the restaurant remains comfortably cool due to the aircon. (I would imagine that the open-door policy would be a big plus as we enter the cooler Oct-Nov months, probably the best time to dine al fresco in HK.) For starters, we opted for a selection of tapas: chorizo; padron peppers; prawns in garlic; mushroom/spinach croquetas; and anchovies. All were very good. For mains, we shared the chicken paella 🥘, which was perfectly cooked and excellent. The wine list, which not surprisingly leans heavily towards Spanish offerings, has a number of good whites and reds. The genial owner, Martino, was on hand to recommend a very good, yet affordable, rioja for us. Our bill - which also included a large bottle of sparkling water, a glass of white wine and a vodka martini - came to ~USD230 (~HK$1800), equivalent to USD57 per head. A most enjoyable evening.More

The location of this restaurant is good but it comes at a price The average small tapa is over £10 and the average price of a bottle of wine £45 to £60. Five tapas and two drinks came to almost £100 which is expensive even...for Hong Kong. I was disappointed too in the quality of the tapas , in my view they were average! The deep fried squid was not crispy and tough. There are much better priced options in this city of good foodMore

The open air surrounds made the tiny place seem comfortable rather than claustrophobic. It is difficult to find in the little Moon courtyard, but a lovely spot once found. The tapas though were only fair. Very small, not spectacular at all. We were a party...of six, but each little plate held 5 pieces. Some attention to detail might have suggested to increase each plate by a tidbit - even if offering such at a little increase of price. People loved the sardines and red sangria. The paella was bland and the bread was outrageously priced.More

This is a great little restaurant that serves good tapas and usually it's possible to get a table quite easily. The tapas are good and the service is good. The restaurant is set back from the main street so it's worth hunting out

Great dinner at Plaza Mayor. Excellent service by the staff and owner. Food is delicious, and my favorite dish Squid Blake ink Paella. Location: wan chai... Away from LKF, but close enough to go to next round once you have eaten at Plaza Mayor.
