Trading off past michelin stars, this beautiful room is let down by awkward service, extremely pricey food and, while the cantonese cuisine is traditional and tasty, is not presented or polished to any great degree. We had better steamed fish elsewhere for literally 1/10th the price. For a restaurant of this supposed calibre, even if the food is traditional/classical Cantonese,... More

A little late with the review - 4 of us dined there Christmas Eve 2015. The food was good but not great - as it was my first time in Hong Kong, I had high expectations so I was a little disappointed. We tried different dishes to share which were fine but the service was mediocre at best - if... More

Restaurant had no atmosphere and service was awful. Waiters seemed miserable. No service with a smile here! Food was average but considering the price I would have expected much more. Very oily food. Our meal was one of the most expensive on our honeymoon and I would say it was not worth a quarter of what we paid. Disappointing meal... More

I visited this restaurant on different occasions. It is not cheap at all but, the food is very delicious. From the garlic shrimps to the pork barbecue me and my wife always enjoyed it. The staff is Hong Kong staff, cannot expect better. But the place is elegant and is frequented by top Hong Kong business people. I will keep... More

So my parents came into town for a 4 day visit and I thought instead of going to all the usual places I would take them to this restaurant to try. The place definitely has a colonial Shanghai feel, my parents thought it had a Peace Hotel (Shanghai) feel...the music of Teresa Tang also add to this ambiance. I have... More

After some disappointing choices of places to eat we were thankful that Island Tang was recommended to us by the concierge of our hotel. Food was cooked perfectly; menu was varied and satisfying. My husband had the baby pigeon dish and said it was absolutely delicious. My favourite was borh the scallop pear dish and the panna cotta for dessert.... More

When you are in Central and want to find a quite place away from your hotel to relax and chill-out, to enjoy great modern Cantonese dish and even Peking Duck, this is one place you should seriously consider. The restaurant feels like a nice classy club. The staffs are attentive, food is very high quality, the ambiance is imitate, relaxing... More

Went for dinner the other night. Tried to get into China Club but it was closed for a private function, so went here after a recommendation. The food was above average but the staff really made us feel that they couldn't care less and we were an inconvenience. Perfunctory at best and plain rude at worst. Prawns in Chilli sauce... More

From the panelled walls to the imposing mirrors this restaurant personifies style in Hong Kong. Great wine selection, NZ Pinot thank you, to Chinese traditional and fusion food. Great service and a lovely respite from the hustle and bustle of downtown central.

We were there for lunch and ordered mostly dim sum and a fried vegetable. Loved the rice rolls wrapped over fried seafood but didn't like the truffle Shiu Mai. Otherwise the rest of the dishes were pretty good. Service was hit and miss. The person who took our orders seemed efficient but the lady who served us was rather rude... More

Staying in Central

Neighborhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
