I think I know good Dim Sum having eaten at the best places in Hong Kong over the years. Tim Ho Wan is famous in Hong Kong and has one Micheline star (for that restaurant not for the ones in the US) and has 2 stores in New York. I've been to both. What I noticed is how limited their menu is compared to Hong Kong. The service was good but the price for the amounts of food is too high. That said the quality is very good but not 5 stars.

This restaurant always has a long queue but when we drove by today, there was no queue so we decided to drop in fir an early lunch. It was a full house inside but they were able to find two tables to accommodate our family of 4. We ordered 12 dishes for our 2 tables and everything was absolutely delightful. The congee, the meatball, chicken feet, shao mai, bbq pork buns, spare ribs with black bean sauce, carrot cake, prawn dumplings and more prawn dumplings. All for less than $250 including tea...a great value for 12 mouth watering dim sum dishes. Highly recommended especially when there is no queue out front!

We went to the Tim Ho Wan near the flower market today. Truthfully, it was just ok. We’ve eaten dim sum all over the world and wouldn’t consider this especially cheap or memorable. It was just ok. It was crowded, portions were small and you’re shoulder to shoulder at most tables and our table wasn’t particularly clean. We sat on plastic stools. The servers were a bit confused and brought us some things that we didn’t order. They were pleasant though when we pointed out their mistakes. The cashier knowingly short-changed us by 9 HK dollars and led my husband to believe it was for a cover charge. But I don’t think there is supposed to be a cover charge. Oh, well, we just let it go rather than hold up the line of people wanting to pay. We just came from Honolulu which has some seriously good hole in the wall dim sum restaurants and at a price on par with Tim Ho Wan so that’s probably at the bottom of my bias. Would we return? No.

Taste good but excessive monosodium glutamate which will make you feel thirsty. Their signature roasted pork bun is good and price is reasonable. Did someone say monosodium glutamate make people more clever, hehe?

We dined at Olympic Branch, the dim sum standard never fail in comparison to its price. The atmosphere is very local and due to COVID, 2 at a table with plastic transparent divider. Good for a quick dim sum lunch at very good price

We love Tim Ho Wan! My family is a huge fan of the unique legendary delicious juicy, crumbly fluffy baked bbq pork buns and also other delightful dim sum. We are fortunate that Tim Ho Wan expanded to other countries like Singapore Plaza Singapura in 2013, so that we have a chance to experience this gastronomy. Tim Ho Wan truly deserves the One Michelin Star it earned since 2010 and is able to keep its excellent quality consistent throughout the years. Other dishes that we love include the soft spongy caramelised steamed Malay Sponge Cake and lightly pan fried crispy smooth carrot cake. We strongly recommend more people to experience Tim Ho Wan and savour their greatness! Hong Kong Michelin Tim Ho Wan By Chef Mak Kwai Pui Famous Baked BBQ Pork Buns Since 2009 Mong Kok! Tim Ho Wan has been a great local Dim Sum restaurant which has many branches both locally and internationally. Been to different locations of Tim Ho Wan and i must say that all different locations of the restaurant are great. Great price, simple, quick, easy, friendly services as well. Been to Shinjuku/Tokyo Japan branch and there was always long long Q. Well done. Keep going.

It is not a very big eatery, but the food is excellent especially for their well know BBQ bun. They are baked and filled with delicious pork. The line is always long, even for take out. They also have dim sum and other dishes, but I go there mainly for the BBQ bun because it is the best.

Really a fire stop for a local brunch. The room is very atypical, a very local choice of dishes and very well served (copious) for a really local price:-) Maybe a little bit of waiting, but you really have to.

My friends took me here yesterday for lunch and it was perfect for a send off. The Dim Sum themselves were light, fluffy, tasty and inexpensive. This is a restaurant that I have patronised frequently over the years -and in multiple locations. But this is my favourite outlet as it is so close top my soon-to-be former workplace.

Totally overrated. No idea why this is raves about or in all the guide books - if this has a Michelin star than that organisation is a joke. The food is tasteless, soggy and bland. One of the Dumplings tasted like sugar. After eating I couldn’t stop drinking water for the rest of the day - sign of too much salt and msg. There is much better dim sum else where, don’t waste your time here at all.

We were looking forward to lunch at Tim Ho Wan. Who wouldn't when it's a Michelin stared restaurant after all? The food would've been great if only the servers were kinder and more pleasing. I spilled tea on the table but instead of helping us, the lady server threw us a piece of cloth to clean after ourselves. The servers lacked customer service. Our food was served in an unpleasant matter. She sounded and looked annoyed. The experience didn't feel like it deserved a visit.

Terrible. Ordered some steamed buns and they brought them out immediately. Quick service? Not exactly. They were cold. Obviously pre made and sitting for who know how long. I told the server they were cold and he said they were made to order. Maybe we have a different definition of what made to order means. We sent them back and he immediately brought out a new batch of room temperature buns. We walked out.

It took us a while to find the restaurant. When we got there, we had to wait a bit. After that, the way we were served was rather mechanical. The food, which was actually quite good, was served in a sober atmosphere. Communication in English was not really possible. When we ordered, we weren't quite sure what we were going to get. In the end, it was OK, but not famous. Probably mainly due to the atmosphere.
