It took me many years to discover, but now I'll be back! Great authentic Italian rustic style food, and try the Chianti, from their own vineyard in Tuscany. Some of the dishes are priced a bit high, (mushroom risotto over $200?), but pick carefully and...you won't be disappointed. Great for a hearty lunch, or casual dinner.More

the first point is that the food is not good. Italian food ? really ? the place is not very clean. then the Italian waiter waited for me to go out on the phone for 5 minutes to talk to my wife and ask her...for her phoneto leave the restaurant. I asked the waiter for an explanation. he did not apologize and denied the facts until the end. while he disrespected number. I hope the new boss will make arrangements for this disrespectful waiter to his customers. my wife was very uncomfortable and asked me my wife in front of the rest of the staff. Never again.More

It was the evening of: “Sorry but we don’t have it”. The restaurant is nice and cozy with his own character and personality in terms of lay out and design and truly may be a piece of Italian history in Hong Kong. Unfortunately the sign...of time has now left a thin layer of sadness especially cause, in a moment, where many restaurants are busy we were mostly the only table having dinner. The food was nothing special really with the only exception of the pasta with NDuja which was very good but what it was most surprising was the many occasion that our waiter was informing us of dishes not available. Pizza: Sorry, not available. Burrata: Sorry, not available. Some NDuja with the cold cut selection: Sorry not available. Sea Bass: Oh yes, of course... but then salmon was served instead whiteout even telling. Reason: Sorry, not available. Piatachio Ice Cream: Sorry, not available. All dishes on the menu, by the way. We will go back: Sorry, probably we will not be available.More

While it is a very beautifully decorated restaurant, with all due respect a restaurant's first purpose should be serving food to guests in a acceptable period of time. Their small restaurant space was stuffed with tables and chairs to the extent that one can hardly...move any more. The main problem was that the kitchen staff was totally unable to deal with the guest numbers of a full house. We were a group of 9 and we receive our food in 3 or 4 different shifts. First came the pizza, half an hour later some of the main dishes, 15 minutes later other main dishes, etc. until the simplest of all, a regular spaghetti with tomato sauce, took a staggering 1 hour and 45 minutes. Even worse, we explicitly told them the spaghetti was for the kids in the party and asked them to attend to it first. Instead, the kids were the last to be served... and fortunately we ordered an adult portion because the spaghetti portion was ridiculously small and the food in general terribly overpriced. Che vergogna ! We ended up playing 'I see, I see what you can't see' too keep the kids busy and forget their hunger, while sharing our food. On the positive side, the restaurant is pretty efficiently decorated to play 'I see, I see what you can't see'.More

An unexpected find in bustling Kowloon. Set in a back street, this restaurant serves good food in an authentic setting. Excellent service from a host eager to please. The house wine was notable.

A very traditional Italian trattoria right in the centre of city, opened since 1969 in HK. They offer authentic Italian cuisine at reasonable prices. We are party of two sharing pumpkin soup, fried calamari, 10 oz beef steak slices, mushroom risotto, & tiramisu to wrap-up...our lunch. Staffs were very friendly, I’ll definitely go back for dinner soon.More

Found this restaurant at the end of a busy road. Menu very limited, but I asked for a variation that was not on the menu and was nicely accommodated. The only thing I found a bit creepy was Chinese staff trying to reply to me...in Italian when I asked for something or the food was served. But other than that a good stop for some sold food.More

When staying in Hong Kong you can very easily get bogged down with the vast selection of food related establishments so with that in mind we opted for something familiar yet strange given our immediate geographical location. La taverna is very easy to find, just...come out at TST MTR and walk until you find Haiphong street at the corner of Kowloon park (Kowloon mosque) then walk down until you find Hankow road go down Hankow until you get to Ichang Street, turn right and walk down until you join Ashley Road were you turn right and go up to the top and it is on your right hand side. The place is very welcoming and the food was second to none, our only complaint is if only one of you orders a starter they will not bring the other parties food out until you have finished. This can be quite frustrating but it is not worth bothering about. Overall both dishes were superb and we would recommend anyone who fancies an authentic Italian, just be aware that it is pricey with a meal consisting of 1 coke/beer, 1 starter, 2 mains and 2 desserts set us back approx 110HKD (105 GB).More

Quaint little tavern that transports you to Italy in the heart of TST. A HK institution. Great service and unpretentious food at a reasonable price. The actual menu is smaller than the one on their website, but good nonetheless. Highly recommend.

Tried to get in at 10pm on a Sunday night. Of course checked their opening hours and they suppose to close at 1130 so decided to give it a try! As soon as I try to open the door a local guy approached and said...that the restaurant was closed already... I just tried to tell him that the sign say that it suppose to close at 1130 and he just answered that he knows and shut the door in front of our faces, almost hit us!!! He’s so rude !!!! I just wonder, not even a explanation? No a bit of concern to a client? How a service can be this embarrassing?More

Perfect meals are rare, at least for the couple of foodies that we are. Reservations were simple by phone, and our requested date and time change was handled without a fuss. A warm, personalized greeting awaited us. Each dish - seafood soup, Caesar salad, shell...pasta with shrimp, and spaghetti al vongole - was delicious and perfectly prepared, with no short cuts, just attention to fresh and flavorful. The young chef also checked in on us. He said that each dish is prepared a la minute and the just-right al dente pasta was testimony to that. No fuss service. Good recommendations from the host. An easy, short walk from the TST subway station, followed by a stroll afterwards through Kowloon Park.More

We went out the other night for an Italian night dining. I wanted to try a new venue, away from the top notch places we go to. La Taverna is a is nicely decorated restaurant, cosy, a little towards the romantic side. My insight on...this is it's semi basement location, but maybe this is just me. We ordered a Misticanza dolce salad to share. There were literally 2 tiny tiny slices of Grana Padona cheese.. emm.. we could have called the diah, just green salad. We ordered Scaloppine di vitello (Veal striploin escalopes and the Grilled Salmon. The 2 course were ok, average, nothing to compliment on, but not terrible, just average. We ended the meal with a Tiramisu, and again, it was ok.. I have eaten in HK way much better Tiramisu. The service was great, and that is why I gave this venue 4* and not 3* The restaurant manager and the servants were great, quick, helpful and very friendly. There is a big room for improvement, and I hope they work on their kitchen cooking :)More

If I could give a negative star, I would. I usually never write reviews, but this place was so bad that I have too. There was not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, but more than 5 instances of poor service and food quality...in one seating. (Wish they put this many pieces of sausage on the pizza..will get into that later.) We entered into the well decorated restaurant excited for some delicious Italian cuisine. We sat down and ordered 4 dishes: pizza, pasta, salad, and chicken. From here, everything just went downhill. First of all, we ordered a salad and they didn't bring that out for 30minutes...its a salad? Our first main dish took a a whole hour to come out. This dish also happened to be raw chicken (maybe it came first because they forgot to cook it!) It caused me to get stomach cramps the next day. The pizza and pasta took over an hour to come out. To make it worse, the pizza was the wrong pizza. It took another 20 minutes for the next correct pizza to come out...turns out that pizza was also the wrong pizza. They claimed it was the right pizza, but it was supposed to have sausages and I can guarantee there were no sausages. Ended up just eating it because we didn't want to wait anymore. Also, we had to remind them of our pasta dish, they totally forgot to start cooking it. On top of everything they still charged a service fee and didn't offer us anything complementary to compensate us for our grievances, with a rude attitude to boot! The only saving grace of the night was being able to tell potential pedestrians outside the restaurant not to eat there.More

This charming restaurant hidden in a trendy section of Kowloon has delicious food, a nice wine list, and excellent service. We were here on a quiet Sunday night and shared a bottle of wine and three traditional Italian entrees: gnocchi taleggio, penne Mediterrane and risotto...with asparagus. All were expertly prepared and delicious as were the fresh, crisp salads. A very enjoyable dinner in a pleasant atmosphere.More
