I love lamb and eat it where ever I go so I tried the Mongolian Lamb and was not disappointed. It was a generous portion and the spices were perfect! The wine the chef pared with it was a beautiful compliment. I was so happy...to meet Chef Harold too. I came when it was raining so I was inside, which was really cozy and stylish. I will be coming back though so I can experience this patio. Just the place to relax with friends under a string of lights. One thing I enjoyed was the ride here and the quiet. I can see why so many people have recommended the place. I come to Nairobi often for my work from San Francisco and enjoy fine food. I will be coming to 45 Degrees again soon. Highly recommended.More

There's something about the food that takes your taste buds back to childhood. How do I explain how my experience at 45° led me to a decision to go back home_ a place I hadn't been in years? There's an aura of peace and air...so serene you might forget to go back home. And in case that happens you can spend the night and wake up to birds chirping and cows mooing. If you didnt grow up on a farm pay this place a visit to experience a beautiful morning. A warm reception, an over the top hospitality. Kudos to Chef Harold!More

Fantastic Cuisine! I visited this restaurant on Christmas Day with my mom and had a FABULOUS Christmas lunch! We had a choice of 2 menus - 3 course & course - each accompanied by a glass of wine. We chose the 4-course menu at a...slightly higher price but we were not disappointed. The portions were good and more importantly, fresh and creative! We even got a free aperitif. The entire culinary experience was quite heavenly even though service from the 2 waitresses on duty could have been better in terms of speed and friendliness. Nonetheless, the restaurant owner did indicate that they didn’t have such a high number of reservations to warrant having a bigger number of staff on this day.More

45 degrees is more then a restaurant. It’s a community, a home, and a place that knows food! With their large menu they cater to many cravings and dietary needs. As a vegetarian I found they had many items on the menu to meet my...needs and all so delicious. I rented the studio on the property for a few days so was able to try several of the dished from morning to night and all were satisfyingly delicious. Harold and his lovely staff all welcome you with smiles and are very kind and hospitable. I loved my time here and will definitely visit again the next time I’m in Nairobi!More

We spent a sun-filled, peaceful afternoon at 45 Degrees. It was our first time eating at the restaurant and it was a wonderful experience. It's off the beaten path but easy to find. The food was delightful to look at and absolutely delicious. It was...beautifully presented - purple and yellow cauliflower - and the flavors just burst in my mouth. We chose the 4-course meal and each dish that came was as delicious as the last. They also serve a glass of wine with each course - well-selected and all as part of the 4-course price. The whole experience was amazing and I've already recommended the restaurant to several friends.More

This restaurant is located in a house in a residential area. We decided to have the wine paired menu. The decor is shabby chic. When the food arrived we where not disappointed. The presentation was fantastic and the taste even better. The chef defiantly knows...his craft. They have a great selection of wines and cocktails. The entire experience was amazing. One thing I might add is that it is quite pricy. Ideal for a special occasion.More

We landed in Nairobi on March 31st, my 52 birthday. This was the 2nd dinner party I had planned at 45 Degree Kitchen. The first, was for my 51st birthday, but unfortunately, the restaurant was closed due to COVID-19. This year, we made it happen....A dinner party for 9 people on a beautiful evening! The food was spectacular, from beginning to end. The service was unparalleled. We had heard of this restaurant from the Afrikan Traveler, who is a native to Kenya and he spends his time learning about the different places and businesses in and around Kenya. When my husband and I saw the episode at 45 Degree Kitchen, I knew I wanted to go and experience eating there. Thank you Rose and Harold for the amazing dinner and experience!More

A friend had talked so much about this restaurant that I decided to give it a shot. I planned a special date there and was totally disappointed. The food looked good but was completely bland, no flavours. It was also ridiculously expensive and the place...was intended to be rustic, except , there is a thin line between rustic and cheap. The seats were really uncomfortable. Very disappointed. Not worth all the hype unfortunately:(More

Went as a group of 6.. for a 4 course menu with wine pairing. The food was very very average. Soups were served cold. The Risotto was a disaster, the desserts were okay at best.. the taste, the presentation left a lot to be desired...the meats were good .. but not great. The wine pairing was a sham as all of us got the same wines irrespective of what we ordered.. That said.. my son had been to the restaurant and he swears by the great food. He had interacted with the Ghanian chef.. and the food that chef produced was masterclass. (I saw the photos). The learning is to check whether the chef is around.. before yiu book. That said the service staff were good and tried their best. The food was served quickly.More

After hearing good reviews, we finally went to this place. The ambiance is nice, the accompanying wines are nice, but the rest was not. Definitely not a repeat visit from our end! The place wants to portray itself as a 'gastronomic restaurant', but tastes and...dishes are fairly standard (agree, the plates are dressed up as if they come out of a Michelin book, but looks deceive). Soups were cold and blant, main dishes overloaded but OK. The deserts....we were given ice cream cake and some ice cream scoops. The ice cream scoops were from a very cheapo brand in Kenya (Diaryland), and the cake was likely from an even cheaper brand...Pure sugar and inedible junk. We were flabbergastered such a restaurant would serve us that and sell it as 'gastronomic' food! We fell cheated, really, especially after paying such a hefty sum. Even ArtCafee or a similar chain restaurant serves waaay better deserts.More

Perfect spot for a date with self or company. Enjoyed my meal as well. The ambience is quite relaxing and there is also a bit of rustic feel to the whole place. The place is a perfect hideout from the shenanigans of the city in...the city 💦 I, however, felt the 10% service fee is deceiving; a lil bird whispered that it is not divided amongst those it is intended for. Started with a bruschetta which was soooooooo fresh and tasted home made. Then had pepe soup which was a rip off; expectation was soooooooo high seeing as the place is owned by a West African national. The soup was basically beef soup full of royco and bit of pepper. The main course was delish though; a sea food bowl 👍🏽 I am a sea food lover so it ticked the hit box. Finished off with a tall glass of a mocktail made from grapes and berries; now that was an INSTANT HIT 🏆More

I have been to 45 Degrees several times and it has always been excellent. I usually get the four course menu with wine pairings which is about $60 (6,000 kes) per person. The first course was a wedge salad with a homemade caesar dressing. For...the second course I had the Ahi Tartar and shared a shrimp taco with my partner. The shrimp taco has a teriyaki style sauce and a homemade hard tortilla shell and a nicely paired salad. For the main course I had the wild mushroom risotto this time and my partner had the short ribs. The ribs were fall off the bone tender with creamy mashed potatoes and the veggies and mushrooms in the risotto were fresh and crisp. For desert I always have the flourless chocolate cake which Chef Harold's is the best I have had. There is a 10% service charge, but it goes to the staff there. I think that was put in place because there isn't much of a tipping culture in Kenya. I suggest on top of the service charge you tip another 5-10% to your server.More

It has v cheap and poor interior. Food was good, but extremely expensive... But what was unacceptable was the owner (a Ghanaian) had in small letters on last page adds another 10% for service charge which does not go to the staff!!!! When I said...I did not wish to pay the service charge and I wanted to pay the staff directly, he was v rude and obstinate and then walked away. V poor behaviour.More

We visited 45 Degrees on Christmas Day and were treated to an amazing buffet made specially for the day. There was a wide variety of meat and vegetable dishes and delicious desserts. The setting is very peaceful and includes both outdoor and indoor sitting. Our...server, Brian, was such a delight. Having worked tirelessly all day, he was still upbeat and eager to please during our early evening meal. He really enhanced our overall experience. All in all, a very special day.More

Visiting 45 Degrees Kitchen and meeting Chef Harold Sena-Akoto was one of the culinary highlights of our trip to Kenya. The food was prepared using local produce. Chef Sena-Akoto graciously gave us a tour of his backyard, where he grows vegetables.
