This historic eatery has been a meeting place for safari people for over a century. The food, although not fancy, is very good, and the service is excellent. It is a fun place to eat and feel the history and ambiance.

This place is not cheap but it's world class for food and service. You need to pass through the hotels scanner and security to gain entry, but this doesn't take long. Breakfast at the Thorntree is definitely not for Weight-watchers.

Thorn Tree is a classical place conveniently integrated with The Sarova Stanley. Here breakfast, lunch and dinner is served also to guests not staying at the hotel. Atmosphere and environment is excellent. Menue has been the same since first time I was here two years ago, and I find that a bit lazy. All the dishes I've tried (and t's... More

We've been coming to the Thorn Tree for nearly 30 years, on and off. We used to love the pavement cafe ambience of the place, but rather inevitably the security problems that beset us all have spoiled this. There is no free access to the street any more, instead there is a security barrier; the view of the street is... More

Very nice and historic place, with friendly atmosphere and good food. Well worth a visit for both aspects.

Went for lunch today and was very impressed by the service not only at the cafe but also upon entering the Stanley Hotel. I had the steak sandwich and the Smooth Safari coffee drink. When my food came it was hot and fresh. My server was prompt and also notified me of a change in price for my coffee which... More

If getting to a piece of "living history" in Naiorbi is not enough, then enjoy the amazing variety of foods, all cooked to your taste and liking by a very competitive staff. Waiters and waitresses are super congenial, and everyone is happy you have chosen the café for lunch. I loved reading the messages on the 50+ year old message... More

I have been coming to this restaurant at LEAST a couple of times a year for over 10 years. The service is still impeccable and the food is lovely! Last time I was there Elizabeth made us feel so comfortable and welcome and even orchestrated a birthday surprise for my mum. It was amazing! Thank you Elizabeth and thank you... More

I hadn't been back to the Thorn Tree for years and so was most happy to see that it was still going and still serving up good food. And, yes, people are still leaving messages on the tree as they have for decades. In the past it used to be more open to street, but now, for security reasons, it... More

Here The Stanley serves a generous breakfast for its guest. Nothing is missing and the staff is very alert and friendly. In evenings you go here to have a light meal for a reasonable price.
