Our group of six had very excellent koshary here. Good food, very friendly staff. Definitely recommended. Beware: the restaurant has moved and is further down Mustafa Kemal Street. The Chez Omar restaurant will try to lure you in instead by saying El Zaeem is closed.

This place has two locations we were at the location corner of Televizion & Al Manshiya behind the Winter Palace/Pavillion Luxor. If you are staying there tip there is a back door gate that takes you right there avoiding the touts out front. The restaurant...has a big red sign. There are no seats it’s only take away. They have the best Koshari in town (delicious noddles, rice, veggies and crispy onions) 12 Egyptian pounds for a medium size. A large bottle of water 7 pounds. Stores sell it for five. Staff very friendly and payment happens at the back with a cashier. Took it back to the hotel and had a nice meal on our balcony.More

If you want to experience Egyptian cuisine welldone this is you’re place. A very Egyptian atmosphere with a traditional restaurant and very good food for a really cheap price. Their speciality is koshari and is great! Very much recommended!

OK, so we’re westerners. But we like to venture out into the world of local cuisine. Every local told us that the best koshari (Egyptian national dish) was served here. They were right. We’ve had it a few times and love it, but they make...a really good one here. Don’t be fooled by the prices, you’ll pay a little more (let’s call it a westerner tax), but the price is still great for what you get. They have very good Tamaaya (Egyptian falafel) too. We had soft drinks, beans, falafel, two medium koshari dishes and some picked vegetables for 130LE, about $10CAD. We went back twice. I recommend going upstairs to sit down rather than the main floor take out. But obviously that’s your call. The westerner tax might be a little lower down there! :)More

This is the best koshari place in Luxor, definitely worth a visit when in Luxor. Careful though the shatta is strong start with a small spoon and add as much as you can tolerate.

When you hear the sound of your stomach rumbling, ring the dinner bell and go to El Zaeem Restaurant. The food is enjoyable, the price is reasonable and the portions are large. It is a short walk from nearby hotels. The restaurant was full for...dinner with area residents. You do have to walk upstairs to the establishment. The atmosphere is relaxed with a backdrop of local flavor.More

For tourists is hard to find: hidden on the second floor above a take-away. Don't expect anything fancy, just good Egyptian food. Please try a kushari (a mix of rice, noodles, lentils onions an tomata sausage).

Food was nice. Service ok. But food too expensive for what you get. At other restaurants you pay a third of the price for the same quality

We stumbled on this restaurant by accident, but what a great find! The food is top notch, the staff are incredibly friendly to all, and for the traveller the menu has an english version. Plenty of locals are about which is a sure sign, and...the prices are good. For $10-20 US (large koshari is less than $1) you will feed two big eaters a range of Egyptian cuisine and still have leftovers. Repeat visits have been met with much welcoming, continued great service, and most importantly, food. If you are in Luxor, get yourself to this restaurant, your stomach will thank you!!More
