I was on my own, staying at the Mena House Hotel, and I decided to try the Khan El Khalili restaurant. I am so very glad I did! The dining room itself is worth the visit! It's a step back in time to a luxurious era. The service was excellent, as was the food. I had Lesan Asfour, a vegetable... More

However it wasnt for me. Poor choice from me. The service was good as there werent any others in the room. The decor is nice and the views great. Whilst staying at Mena House for 10 days I dined there once and didnt need to go back.

When we arrived in Cairo we had a private Egyptologist and an armed guard accompany us everywhere. This was recommended to us by both and we arrived to a very traditional restaurant, excellent service and a spread of local dishes. It was a lovely delicious lunch with an exotic atmosphere. It was a nice place to eat and relax after... More

The view of the Great Pyramid is absolutely stunning, and the decor of the restaurant is very elegant, but the food was quite average. A bit too salty, and the keftas' ground meat had little bits of cartilage ground up in it, which was quite disgusting.

One of my most memorable experiences in Cairo will always be walking through the Khan-El-Khalili souk (the Arabic word for bazaar) and bargaining my way through all sorts of clothes, jewellery, spices, toys and knick-knacks that found their way (I’m still not quite sure how!) into my shopping bag. The souk is a maze of streets and lanes and it... More

You might find better Egyptian food at better prices elsewhere in Cairo, but the view of the pyramids is the star of the show here. It's good food in an elegant setting with professional service. And, THAT VIEW!!

Excellent food. A bit pricey but if staying at the Mena House, it's worth a visit. We had kabobs and salads. Te sheesh Kabob specially was great. The portions are mediocre.
