Great Ambiance

This place scores high for ambiance. As soon as you walk in and see the lighting, decor, and seating, all the chaotic and tired tourist feelings melt away. It was also filled with tourists looking the same as us. The gentlemen who work there seemed to be working hard, but had to be reminded of almost every part of our order. The menu is very meat heavy, with not many items. I feel like they could make a lot more money and offer more options considering the price and the clientele. In the end we got drinks (Beer!) and small snacks rather than a meal. I am glad we visited for the rest and the pick-me-up after a busy day of sight seeing, but wish there was more to the menu for vegetarians that wasn't only eggplant based or salads.

Nice atmosphere

I dined here alone (single female) and felt like it was a real challenge to get the waiters' attention at all which was strange since they were quite attentive to other diners. There were mostly foreigners here with just a few locals. It would be a nice place to come for a dinner with a group. The food is the normal selection of Egyptian dishes and is a bit overpriced for what it is- but you're paying for the atmosphere and the service.

We really enjoyed the decor and interior of this restaurant. We had read reviews and were aware of the 6 LE per person “cover charge”. We also did not eat the bread they put on the table and then charge you for if you eat. We enjoyed everything we ordered and it all came very timely. I’m not sure if it’s Covid related, but we came at 6:30 and we only saw a handful of other people/ groups. While a bit pricey (compared to other restaurants) we did enjoy ourselves here.

A disaster from the beginning

Over the years we’ve taken many guests to this restaurant. We’ve been pleased and our guests have been also. Until January 2020. Six people were dining. The first disaster occurred when the waiter knocked over the beer he had just delivered. Well, it spread over the table and through the crack onto the rather expensive purchase from the tent makers area. All we got was a “Sorry, sorry, sorry. He is new.” Comp the drink? No way, just another beer delivered to the table. And they didn’t even offer to clean up the mess. We all ordered our main courses and three of them were delivered. The three began eating, thinking that the other meals would soon arrive. WRONG! The first three diners were nearly finished when the next two meals were delivered. Where was the 6th meal? It didn’t show up until even the two late diners were finished plus several more minutes. We tried to ask where her meal was but no one was around to ask. Finally the 6th meal arrived when all 5 others had long finished. “Sorry but the grill was busy.” was the excuse given. Diner 6 was no longer interested in eating her meal. We asked that her meal be packaged for take away. Again “Sorry.” was the only response. We had talked up this restaurant as a wonderful experience but not one of us was feeling good about this dining experience. We will not take any more visitors to this place. Service was deplorable!

Bad Experience. Don’t recommend Service and Food definitely declining every time I visit this place. They are pretending that they are taking their Saftey precautions related to COVID but it’s not true and obvious. Food is not special and price for the value of service and food you get is not worth.

I am very disappointed in this restaurant. I went with my friends during our trip to Egypt and the environment was beyond amazing but the food was terrible, we even had a piece of broken glass in our pasta dish!! And when we confronted the waiters they said oh it is just a glass and argued about not wanting to remove it of our pay. Very nice place but the service and food is beyond disappointing.

FATAL LUNCH

Fatal lunch. The service incredibly slow. As a turtle. There were 6 waiters and very few people for the time and season (after easter) and no way to get served. Not even the glasses of water or metal cutlery(plastic one is used). They were all going around the place to hide that they were working. They were walking around from top to bottom without doing anything and when you called them insistently and they could no longer ignore your presence, they would come closer and point out whatever they wanted. After 2 hours to eat 5 small dishes they have taken the bill and before saying anything they have warned us that the "tip" was not included, how strange in this country right?. Even so we left him a few pounds as a tip (without deserving anything) and one of the waiters literally told us: "that you have left is nothing". Decent food but not for €64 (4 people), as if these were European prices. The site is not recommended. We will never go back or recommend it. See you never Felfela.

Our tour guide said we were running a little late, so he would order lunch for us to eat on the bus. He brought us chicken shawarma sandwiches. They were so awesome tasty, and one of the best lunches we had while in Egypt. Who knew?

The food was barely edible. First of all, whatever I tried to order they were out of, the waiter tried really hard to make me order some cutlet for 300LE. I ordered molokhia and I had to look at it several times to make sure this was molokhia. It was very watery as if they forgot to put molokhia leaves in it. I also ordered mahshi, and I guess they didn't heat it up in the microwave enough as the outside was warm and inside still cold. And to top it all off, they tried to cheat me by not giving me the correct change. They are notorious for cheating people, read other reviews. I'm not the only one who this happened to. I absolutely do not recommend this place. I regretted spending so much money at a place that was absolutely disgusting and charges cover fee (what is that? No other restaurant in Egypt charges that maybe some other tourist trap restaurant does too, I don't know). Rule of thumb if you don't see a restaurant packed with locals, stay away. This place was empty when I was there. I should have known better! Do yourself a favor and go to Sobhi Kaber.

I was there last night Wed Feb20,2020. Service was very bad, I mean it. Food was below average compared to same category restaurants in Cairo. They added 6 EGP/per person to our bill as covering charge, never happened to me else where. They added 12% service charges, so please don’t pay tips next time you go there. They added 14% taxes. Over that, please check your bill carefully, because tonight they charged us for a dish that we didn’t have. We claimed it and they refunded us.

Stumbled by chance. Amazing food!

On a walk through downtown searching for a dinner spot, we stumbled by chance and decided to try Felfela restaurant. Decor is beautiful and welcoming, staff is extremely friendly, welcoming. We got the mix grill plate, meat was juicy and tasty, we also got tahini, came with warm pita bread, some of the best tahini we've tried in Egypt. Highly recommend this place, and will definitely come back next time I'm in Cairo.

Chaotic, Dismissive, incomplete and Rude Service … although the food itself was tasty. Eating here was stressful.

Granted we were a party of ten and that it is Ramadan so they were short staffed from the looks of things. We were seated early, before the rush, and got our dinner order in before our large groups. However, from the moment we took our seats the “Captain” was irritated, impatient, not focused on us and highly agitated with “his” staff. We prepared ourselves to be patient as we are a group of seasoned travelers. We had also chosen this restaurant based on its reputation and good food. Suffice it to say: some of us got what we ordered at all different intervals while others had a side dish and no main course or the main course went completely missing. On behalf of the group as I was at the end of the table - I asked for the missing items 3 different times and we were told by the waiter the captain would come to the table. After we all had finished the meals we had (and shared with those that didn’t) he finally showed up only to tell us we never ordered the missing meals. Not true. We had even split the order into two sides of the table on two different checks to make it easier for them. If he had ever showed the least bit of consideration or explained that they were apparently understaffed or treated us like customers that might actually return to his establishment and not tourists - the service would have still been I’m adequate but his attitude and demeanor turned an inconvenience into a totally unpleasant encounter. Still we all made the best of it and remained patient. This was greatly achieved by the one waiter who came with our plates and actually got us napkins, salt, and tried to get the Captain. While we waited for our food we had all figured out what our meals would costs, so we started to collect it for our bill. That’s when the Captain showed up not once but three times within minutes to try to take our money before we were ready a nod start counting it himself! The man was completely insufferable.

Bland food, overrated, skip this place

We were served cold hard bread with none of the array of condiments usually served with bread. We both got the mixed grill which was very average. The falafel which I read people raved about was not on the menu but I heard someone ordered it so I asked and they do have it, I think from the to-go part of the restaurant. The falafel was a disappointment, oily and bland. A really overrated place for tourists. Service was not great either, skip this place.

The usual grill but with a touch of class

We had lunch here today and were very impressed with the flavours in the standard grill meat and other courses. Doesn't look much from the outside but do not let that put you off. There are a lot of tables with great overall atmosphere. We mainly saw tourists having meals, so very few locals if that is what you are looking for.

Cheap, but for a reason

Food was not good at all. Servers don’t care about you. We waited more than 10 minutes to get the bill and had to resort to shouting at the waiters, which took a number of attempts before working. Would not go back, would not recommend, unless you have no money and no alternatives and are dying from hunger.
