This is not really a restaurant with formal seating, just a long table in the middle for sharing. Popular with locals and tourists alike, the menu is short and the food fresh. They also do a brisk takeaway trade. If you are considering this option, I suggest also trying Sag a few metres up the road where they do incredible Shawarma for about 1-2GBP.

Food was good and service was fast. Tight on seating but that's generally a good sign. Be prepared to deal with a few beggars on the sidewalk as they know this is a busy area. Prices were slightly high for the amount of food. Left satisfied but not full... and be aware, 12% service charge and 14% VAT is added to menu prices.

This is more of a 3.5/5 (which isn’t an option), so 3 is harsh - but I don’t think I can give it a 4. Zööba is a nice and relaxed environment, with cheaply priced food turned out quickly - more in the style of fast food than fine dining. If you’re hungry and looking for a quick, decent meal, this is a good place to go. That’s pretty much all that can be said, and there’s nothing much to criticise - though don’t expect this to be a life changing culinary experience.
As in most Cairo restaurants, there is no alcohol.

Today for breakfast i ordered 3 simple sandwiches online
It took 15 mins for my order to be accepted then someone called saying they’re out of bread and its going to take 30 minutes to start making my order i said yes and after 50 minutes i called again and they said sorry its still not ready i waited and then after 75 mins and 2 calls i had my order.
While opening it i found out they gave me a wrong sandwich I immediately called and was told the right one will be sent straight away and i was also told to keep the other “wrong” sandwich aside so they can take it?? Which makes absolutely no sense that during a pandemic I return food that i had opened and have someone else take!! Unacceptable and honestly creates a horrible chain of thought thinking about how my food had been prepped. Please keep in my mind i live 7 mins away from that branch. 30 mins later i call and they tell me yes we are prepping it! Honestly its a falafel sandwich it does not need all this time. However it was delievered to me after 60 mins!!! Since already breakfast has been ruined i did not open it because i never expected it to be wrong. However upon opening it they had sent a completely different order AGAIN!!!! i called the poor customer service and no one even had the audacity to call and apologize or even offer any compensation!
Such a poor unprofessional behavior from a company that spends all its money on advertising its amazing customer experience! SHAME DO NOT ORDER

I don’t usually complain on social media for my experience from restaurants but this has to be the worst experience i had with zooba (if not any other restaurants).
First of all the delivery guy called and told me that i am out of zone and that he will have to cancel the order, and when i told him i’ll call zooba to see if this is true or not he told me: Im with them and i’ll tell them myself. So i ignored him and called their hotline and they apologized and were extremely nice and told me that my order will arrive normally. So i got another call from the restaurants “shift lead” he asked for the location, so i sent it to him and expected that my order will arrive. 30 mins later i called the same guy that took the location and he told me we tried delivering your order but people stopped him in the street and told him that he can’t pass and when i asked him why you didn’t call, he said that i did (he was lying he didn’t call me). So i called the hotline again they apologized and assured me that the manager will call me. 30 mins later he didn’t call me. i have the call center assuring me that my house is in zone and the restaurant doesn’t want to deliver . This just shows a big mismanagement issue in this particular branch. I called the call center and they assured me that someone from upper management will call me and no one called as well.
It just saddens me that i was a loyal customer since the first branch in zamalek and just because of this terrible experience i won’t be ordering ever again from zooba

The place was recommended I’m not just one, but many Cairo must-eat lists. The place lives upto the expectation definitely on food quality and taste. We went with a lot of the waiters reco since we weren’t too familiar with the cuisine. It’s a great place for your “intro to Egyptian cuisine”. It’s a great place to grab a quick bite!
Mind you, the place is a small hole in the wall sort of place with one long table and a few high chairs facing the wall. With less seating availability, it always remains full. The only thing I found annoying is the few flies. Didn’t expect that since it was a closed restaurant.
P.S this was our first meal in Cairo. After eating at a few other local food restaurants, I would say this is best food, period. (apart from being best value too)

We read good things about this restaurant and were excited to go when we went to Cairo. We went for a lunch service and had to wait for a table for about 10 minutes and enjoyed a flavourful lunch with dips, bread and hibiscus limeade. It was worth the stop and was relatively inexpensive. It also seemed like a good spot for locals.
Getting here with an Uber was easy and the quickest option in the middle of the day. Some items are not available until 3 pm so it might be worth trying some stuff later in the day too.
There were a couple of bathrooms upstairs but one seemed to be closed while we were there. The stairs going upstairs are quite narrow and steep.

We had takeaway from Zooba several times during our stay in Cairo.
Very good experience. Not expensive. Good selections of dishes. Good sized portions.
Our favorites were the classic tammiya sandwich and the ful sandwich.
Egyptians take first prize for the best ful among the Arabs.
As to tamiyya, this is an Egyptian specialty. Similar to falafel but the main ingredient in tamiyya is fava beans. Falafel is chickpea based.
There were a couple of negative comments about waiting.
The cause is demand. This is a small place. Whenever we've come, it's been full. With folks waiting for a table or waiting for their take away orders.
Lots of local diners = a good sign of the quality of the food.
Egyptians know the full range of dining options better than tourists and are generally value and quality conscious. If they are willing to spend more than the cost in the typical street shops, that is a pretty good sign of quality food.

My partner and I went here for our first meal in Cairo, and it was a great introduction to Egyptian food. We ordered a ton of different things (definitely overordered), and it was all really delicious and affordable. We were able to try fuul, taameya, hawawshi, and a few other things we were interested in. Overall, I would recommend.

The worst service and quality ever !
I visited Zooba Capital Promenade on Thursday morning @ 9.30 am for one falafel sandwich on the go .
I placed my order and I waited 20 minutes to get it ready!
During this time, there were around 7 staff who were literally doing nothing but chatting, smoking or drinking tea!
With the first bite, I found out that falafel is not well cooked and Turing info عجينه !!
I left heading my car while one of your staff came to me trying to apologize and had my mobile number so the manger call me which did not happen till moment.
It is a shame having those unqualified calibers and it is not acceptable to get such horrible products hence NO VALUE at all for money I paid . Indeed the quality of service is at its lowest level .
Zooba “ is no more on my list and - indeed- by all means is NOT RECOMMENDED!

We ate here several times. It is simply outstanding. All Egyptian street food is brilliant but this relatively cheap restaurant serves up street staples at their very best. It thoroughly deserves its popularity among locals. It gets busy but service is fast.

Was really excited to try here - it kept popping up in blogs and as a good restaurant to visit. The falafel sandwiches really weren’t very good. Minimal taste - was glad I got the pickled lemon one because there was at least some flavour. One was cold too. Disappointing!

Came here as I had heard such good things about it and was not disappointed. It is small and popular so it can get very busy but for a table of 6 at lunchtime we waited about 15mins for the table. The shawarma was really good and the chips were so nicely seasoned. The best thing is it was the cheapest meal we had in Egypt. £30 for 6 people's lunches plus soft drinks. Well worth it!

It is a small place located in Zamalec, its food is simple, it really is Egyptian street food but with a modern touch, everything is really rich and the price is cheap. All the staff are young and nice.
The place is small so it is better and early if you are not likely to wait.

Visited Zooba with a friend for breakfast whilst on transit. The yummy Ful - with tahini, crispy falafel and warm bread all made for a delicious meal. We downed it with some hibiscus lemonade which was unique. Very affordable quaint joint for some authentic local food. Highly recommend.
