Eating at Abu Tarek is not having a meal.....it is a way for better life
Wished Egypt restaurants would have learnt 1/10 of Abu Tarek consistency, sustainability, discipline, professionalism, cook art and talent.....but, only Abu Tarek
Came here to try the acclaimed best koshary restaurant in the country after a morning walking around the nearby Egyptian Museum. The waiter was helpful and prepared our dish for us. The taste was great, definitely recommend. Heads up, they will likely take your change...as a tip on their own. The amount was totally fine, but it never feels nice when the waiter takes his own tip.More
I travel to Egypt frequently on business and I was last there in October 2019. Koshary is a dish especially known in Egypt and Abou Tareks is, by far, the most popular restaurant serving it. This is like the 'chinese food' of Egypt. Great (cheap!)...price, great flavors, huge portions. I always eat it with a side of plain yogurt I pick up from one of the numerous bodega type stores. Service is fast, delivery for English speakers no problem. I don't even know how to describe koshary - it has lentils and pasta and fried onions and a sauce on the top (ask for not hot). Anyway - don't miss giving it a try. Their main (only?) restaurant is right downtown in Cairo.More
We were visiting the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square and came here for lunch. The koshary is out of this world - we had to have seconds! For those who don't know what it is - it is an Egyptian street food made with rice,...pasta, lentils, chickpeas, caramelised onions, garlic and tomato sauce. You can also add hot sauce to your taste. It is great if you are vegetarian / vegan or simply want a quick and cheap meal. You can just walk and grab a table.More
