We were excited to dine at the Black Lion today and got there via a city bus. We were met with a note on the lion mural (see picture) that they have relocated to a new spot. Three stars were given because we met someone associated with the restaurant and he said the new location was not open yet. He... More

Ate here for dinner on two occasions in late October on the recommendation of a Georgian friend. In a quiet part of the town which made a nice change and partially hidden away in a basement location (but easy to find). Large black lion motif is a give away for the location. Only 8 (?) tables for 4 - 6... More

I loved the place. It's more pricey than usual Tbilisi restaurants but their gobi was good and especially the main course was something I had never tasted (I tried the chicken in walnut and curry sauce)

I simply love this place. I come here very often and consider it one of the best restaurants in the entire city! The food is very delicious and interesting and the environment is absolutely stunning. Highly Recommended!

Tbilisi offers diners a wide choice of very good restaurants, and the Black Lion (or Shavi Lomi as it is called in Georgian) is a very good option. It is set in a wonderfully restored arched cellar, and offers a very comfortable and low key atmosphere; the food is organic, tasty and very well prepared. In particular, the red pepper... More

Good atmosphere in a basement - so the entrance is where you see the Black Lion, which we nearly missed because we went when it was dark and there was not a lot of lighting nearby, coupled with road works too. Helpful staff/owner and we enjoyed the local cuisine there. Generally enjoyable. Georgian wine was okay and we also enjoyed... More

our host in Tbilisi recommended us this place and we ate very nice food there at appropriate prices. The fish was well prepared and the wine good, yet the best is the beef bouillon (a little bit spicy and with fresh colander)! Would definitely recommend

This is THE place to go while visiting Tbilisi. You can taste some Georgian food which isn't made anywhere else and is made in a special way, beautifully, tastefully. For starter, you must order Gobi, which contains different Georgian food and is delicious. For the main course, you have lots of alternatives. The interior is created by a Georgian interior... More
