Old City Wall’s brick walled and vaulted ceilinged dining room decorated with old world heavy wood furniture and wall hangings has a thematic charm. The moderately long menu offers upscale Georgian classics. Unfortunately the food doesn’t live up to the ambiance and menu sophistication. We...ordered the tomato with wild caper salad, the chicken shkmeruli (chicken in a garlic milk sauce) and the BBQ sturgeon. The salad was more wild caper than tomato. While I like wild capers we preferred the version of this salad at Salobei Bia, see above, with capers as a flavoring rather than a main ingredient. This version of shkmeruli had a much thicker and cheesier sauce compared to other versions we’ve had. It was also too salty for my tastes. For those that prefer richer dishes you may like this version better. The BBQ sturgeon was the biggest disappointment. A rather expensive dish for Georgia it contained just a few morsels of sturgeon in a plate full of mostly peppers and onions. Flavor-wise it was good, but lacking value-wise. The bread was fresh-out-of-the-oven wonderful. On a Monday evening at 7pm in mid-July the restaurant was empty when we arrived. 2 couples showed up around 8pm. Service was friendly and efficient.More

The rain was pouring last night, but we had the best time of our stay in Tbilisi at the Old City Wall. It is a real gem, and by far the best place we ate in Tbilisi, and definitely one of the best restaurants I’ve...been to - and I’m quite a keen foodie and this by far has been one of the best restaurants in my life: from end to end. To name a few: - Location, interior atmosphere: the restaurant is located very centrally, inside the original old city walls right at the beginning of the old city; the interior is exquisitely renovated and decorated - very tasteful design and atmosphere. Beautiful melodic Georgian music playing (I even asked for a playlist to enjoy it in the future). - Food: authentic, rich yet delicate flavours. Everything cooked beautifully (huge complements to very talented chef). We also were impressed with the menu: it had a lot of very interesting Georgian dishes: both traditional and in some cases reinvented with a twist from the chef (like Matzoni panna cotta) or Georgian flavours-inspired deserts. Every dish was beautiful. We also noticed that beside à la carte options, there were dinner sets for 3-4 people, where each set was had dishes from a particular area of Georgia - next time we’re there we would love to try it. - Service: we were taken care of by amazing ladies Natia & Nino, who made our stay so wonderful. They helped us with advice and explained the dishes, and when they overheard that we were celebrating my mom’s birthday they even brought a sparkling birthday candle with our dessert accompanied by Georgian happy birthday song. Price vs. value: at first glance, compared to average restaurant & cafes in Tbilisi prices were a tad higher, but it more than worth it compared to the experience you get on all levels. It was worth every lari and more. In short: you will do yourself a great favour if you go here. We will definitely come back. P.S. ძალიან დიდი მადლობა. Big thank you to the whole team including the creators behind.More

Among all the restaurants this one impressed us the most - the food was prepared quickly (it is rarely could be met in Georgia 😅), the food was very tasty and the portions so big! The service also is nice! Absolutely recommend!

Great Georgian food in a fabulous location with excellent service. The dining room is located inside a bricklined tunnel inside the old city wall; very cute, cosy and romantic. Everyone was very welcoming and attentive throughout our meal. We planned ahead to go on a...night when they had singing and it was absolutely fabulous; 4 local men sang beautiful georgian songs and chants either a cappella or accompanied by guitar as they enjoyed their dinner and wine. It was a really special experience. Everything we ordered was unique, delicious, and beautifully prepared. I recommend the roast piglet, it is served with the skin in a honey glaze along with roasted vegetables in the same sauce. They have some really nice looking platters that serve 4 or 6 from each region of the country - we are going to have to find some friends and go back again!More

If you want to try delicious traditional Georgian cuisine this is definitely a place you should visit. It is right in the center of Tbilisi and the restaurant is in an actual city wall that was built centuries ago. Besides the atmosphere, dishes are also...extraordinary and delicious and there’s a wide selection of great wine.More

Was suggested to visit this restaurant by the owner of a hotel where we stayed at. My husband is actually a professional chef himself and always looks for flaws in any restaurant or dish. He could not find any. We had a great dinner, in...a very special setting, the food was fantastic. We listened to beautiful traditional singing and ended up coming back 2 more times during our stay. Definitely visit if you get a chance!More

This restaurant is located right in Tbilisi's center and is difficult to miss. Simply walk from Freedom Square towards the Old City and you see the restaurant. However, this place is more oriented to tourists, you get there an excellent experience. Waiters are very nice...and helpful, speaking English and Russian. If you hesitate what to choose, just ask them - they will explain everything. The Old city Wall Restaurant also invites local musicians for a live folk show, and we were so lucky to experience this too! The biggest advantage to me was that musicians were sitting at a table, served beverages and food, and not staying somewhere on the stage. And this is great, because you feel like you've been invited at someone's place - homey and cheerful.More

I rarely give 1 or 2 star reviews, but this place definitely deserves this low rating. First, let me start by saying that the live music and atmosphere was really cool, as well as the decor. Sadly, this is the extend of our "good experience"...there. We were promptly greeted by the hostess/server, and each given a menu. I ordered a water bottle for the table, and it was very warm, and borderline not drinkable. I then ask the waitress for their house white dry wine, and pointing out to her the bottle on the menu, and listed at 34Gel. She then tells us that this is an old menu, and that the bottle is now 70gel. Why giving us 3 separate menus, all with the same amounts on them, and then every bottle of wines we point at, is actually double the price? This was a very unusual and strange behavior. After letting her know that this wasn't right, she then went and talked to her boss, and came back with another offer of 65 gel. I simply couldn't believe that they were trying to rip us off, and "bargain" with us. I've been to 128 countries in my life, eaten in thousands of restaurants, and never before was I given a menu with prices on, only to be told after that these prices were no longer available! A complete joke, and obviously a brutal attempt at getting more money from us being foreigners. I immediately chuckled at her, paid for the warm water bottle, and the 3 of us were on our way out. There are plenty of better restaurants to choose from in this amazing city. Avoid this place!More

After a quite stressful arrival In Tbilisi following mix ups with taxis, hotels and rooms. We needed to find a great restaurant for our first evening meal here in the city. Honestly this experience melted away any troubles we’d had. The service was excellent, the...food incredible, the wine amazing and all of these paled into insignificance behind the atmosphere created by a group of men singing Georgian songs. The owner couldn’t have been more friendly, with perfect English added to his perfect hosting skills. His food and wine recommendations were exemplary. Please visit this very special place if you get the chance.More
