My lovely wife and I arrived in Yangon feeling a little dazed and confused following an unnecessarily long flight from Kolkata via Bangkok including a ten hour layover on the way. We picked this place for dinner mainly because it was close to our hotel...as we didn't have the energy to head further afield. It turned out to be an excellent choice. It's certainly nowhere fancy but it's very popular with the locals. There are tables surrounded by little plastic stools both inside and on the pavement. Outside was full so we went indoors. Our state of confusion was heightened by a lengthy menu filled with unfamiliar items. To make matters worse it has no prices so making a choice was tricky, especially with the waitress hovering over us. We decided to have tempura prawns to start followed by a whole steamed fish with lime, chilli, ginger, garlic & coriander and a couple of bowls of steamed rice. Everything was very good. The fish was just amazing. Really fresh and bursting with flavour. Beautifully cooked. The bill was K16,500 including a couple of local beers. Not as cheap as some older reviews on this esteemed site suggest but still great value.More

Visited this Shan noodle shop on our second night in Yangon. Delish local food, place was packed, friendly staff and prices were good. Best of all no other tourists. We had the Shan noodles with chicken, fish with lime, rice and two beers for 10,000kyat....Would go back. Only tip - follow the written address on the Trip Advisor listing - between 46th and 47th - when I clicked map on the app it points you a couple of km's down the road near 28th...More

We arrived late evening in Yangon and our hostel recommended this restaurant just around the corner. It's a locals joint so there were no tourist insight which we appreciated. Staff were lovely, efficient and helpful. We ordered 2x Shan Noodles & Shan style tofu noodles....Both Gluten-Free friendly & tasty. Only 8000 for our entire meal, 2x beers and water included.More

This tiny restaurant is located around the corner from our hotel. Their turnover is amazing as the tables are almost always full. In the evenings, tables arranged on the sidewalk outside the shop fill up just as fast. Most people come in for a quick...noodles during lunch but the specialty is their steamed fish in lime sauce. It was so good that we had it nearly every time we were there, which is every day. We made friends with some servers and while service is not always up to the mark, the food was good and reasonably priced. We did not inspect the kitchen which is located in the shoplot next door, but in all the time we ate there, we did not have any problems. Pricing is reasonable. Recommend a visit.More

A place with local food where locals eat. Good selection with a menu written in English. Also have a look around at what the other patrons are eating - because it all looked great. This one won't break the budget but will fill you up...with great local food.More

The taste are not bad. But the prep and their kitchen are so dirty. The way the waiters treat you is worst.

If you do nothing else in Yangon – find this casual local restaurant in Bo Gyoke Rd between 46th and 47th Street and order the FISH WITH LIME (#7 under ‘Curry’). Blink and you would miss it. Un-believe-able!! Organised by our guest house – Bamboo...Place, our guide Newa took us on the Circular Train then to lunch at Nang Htike Shan Noodles. All dishes were lovely, fresh & tasty but the Fish with Lime was so fresh, so delicious, so perfectly cooked that we kept looking to repeat the experience in other places, but alas, nothing came close. We all enjoyed fresh fruit juice and a couple of salads including Le Phet Thoke (Burmese tea leaf salad), noodles, curries, rice and THE FISH. Two of everything (2 table). The total bill for 7 came to 36,000 Myanmar Kyat. That’s $5.40/pp AUD and $4/pp USD. Also nearby are fantastic Ye Gaw Butter Pan Cakes (stall on corner), Maung Aye Tea Shop and Golden City Chetty Restaurant. A very worthwhile area to visit.More
